Four Years

It’s been a ride guys, it truly has been a ride.  With more fun laid out in front of us in future days, today we are taking a moment to look back a bit, to reflect, and to enjoy a pint.  We hope you do the same.  We can’t say thanks for the support loud enough or long enough for you all to hear, but know that we truly appreciate each and every person that has visited our Tap Room to enjoy a pint.  We shall see you all soon.

A couple beauties rolled out this week:

UNIHopped (American IPA) - Tulip (16 oz) - $5 #GoCats #UNIFightInitially inspired by the University of Northern Iowa Rally in the Valley.  This particular batch (SingleHopped Citra) comes to you courtesy of a request from the UNI Alumni Association.  #GoCats #UNIFight OG: 1.057, IBU: 50, ABV: 6.3%

Honey Basil - Pub (16 oz) - $5 Crafted with the aid of Trevor from Broad Street Brewing (Reinbeck).  A cordially hopped American Pale Ale infused with locally harvested honey, and basil. OG: 1.057, IBU: 36, ABV: 6.2%

16 Days

It’s coming people, it’s coming.  The 16 Day long festival Munich lives for (Oktoberfest) officially begins on Saturday, September 17th.  We’re celebrating right alongside them even with miles of distance between us.  Our 16 Days (Oktoberfest) is poised to launch tomorrow.  Prost! 

16 Days (Märzen) - Pub (16 oz) - $5           Our annual celebrataion of maltiness.  Inspired by the traditional style, our Märzen boasts balance, rich and toasty throughout.  The traditional celebration in Munich goes on for 16 Days, but we place no restrictions on your timetable for being festive. OG: 1.048, IBU: 18, ABV: 4.8%

The Bourne Ultimatum 07.29.16

The Bourne Altimatum (German Altbier) - Pilsener (14.5 oz) - $5          An German-American  thriller for certain.  Operation Altbier features perennial star malts Pilsen and Munich, supported by the US Vanguard hop varietal.  Fermented cold by a German Ale strain, to provide a clean, crisp finish, leaving your palette in deep anticipation of the sequel.  Now drink a couple and go get some rest, you look tired.  OG: 1.054, IBU: 26, ABV: 5.3%

BeerList 07.13.16 - Meet Gracie!

Gracie Elisabeth (Blueberry Blonde) - Tulip (13 oz) - $6 If you liked Anna Marie, we suggest letting the joy of summertime continue with her sister, Gracie Elisabeth. With this American Blonde we once again marry hop characteristics to those of a beautiful fruit.  Mosaic, known for its complex, fruity flavor profile (notably blueberry) was added liberally throughout the boil.  Once fermentation was complete we brought Mosaic back around for a double dry hopping session all while resting this delicate ale upon 75 lb of blueberry puree. OG: 1.055, IBU: 36, ABV: 6.8%

Equatorial (American Wheat) - Pils (14.5 oz) - $4 or Hefe (20 oz) - $5         Hop-driven and moderately sessionable.   Originally brewed as the answer to, “What would I want in my hand while taking in a music festival of epic proportions this June?” After experiencing both the Gentlemen of the Road Stopover and the coinciding beer, we knew that at some point we would have to bring Equatorial back around. If Mumford shows up today we’ll call it a bonus. OG: 1.052, IBU: 31, ABV: 5.6%

Kölsch with a Sea (Kölsch) - Pils (14.5 oz) - $4   That’s right, a Sea.   Hold on, a C? Either way, I pretty sure we meant K. OG: 1.048, IBU: 20, ABV: 5.4%

Tricycle (Cream Ale) - Pub (16 oz) - $5 Resting upon three wheels pointing in different stylistic directions sits this hybrid of an ale. Wheel #1 spins toward a cream ale, another approaches a wheat, and yet a third rolls near a pale ale. Working together they drive Tricycle to a slightly sweet and citrusy state backed with just enough hop bitterness to remain upright. Ride On! OG: 1.045, IBU: 32, ABV: 5.0%

Swift (India Session Ale) - Pub (16 oz) - $5   An American IPA gone sessionable. All of the bright, hoppy excellence - Less of the tip your bike over ABV. Lively notes of berry and melon mingle with bicuity and nutty malt contributions. Our GoToAle when staying Swift is a priority. OG: 1.046, IBU: 46, ABV: 4.9%

Saison Batch 11 (Saison) - Tulip (16 oz) - $4 Classic.   Crisp.   Saison. OG: 1.048, IBU: 24, ABV: 5.6%

BrewDebut + A Cask to Remember

A fun afternoon in the Tap room ahead! Today brings us both the 2016 BrewDebut of our Saison Sanguine (Dry Hopped Hibiscus Saison) as well as your final shot at our Mosaic. The last of the Mosaic is in the form of a pin (5.4 gallons or more importantly 43 Pints) and has rested atop the German hop varietal Huell Melon, well known for its fruity, melon, and berrylike characteristics.  This is a pin you don’t want to miss.

Saison Sanguine (Saison) - Tulip (13 oz) - $5 The inclusion of hibiscus flower in this Saison has two effects, both beautiful.   First, it contributes an unconventionally cool reddish hue.  Secondly, it provides a peaceful tartness that plays well with the sweet-tempered hop profile (Amarillo, Mandarin Bavaria).  The finish is quintessentially Saison, dry and crisp. OG: 1.063, IBU: 41, ABV: 7.2%

Mosaic - CASK ALE  (American Pale Ale) - Pub (16 oz) - $5 A CASK ALE visit from our Mosaic, with a hit of Huell Melon! This American Pale Ale showcases one of our favorite hop varietals, Mosaic. Tropical, fruity and floral notes play politely with the malty character of this balanced take on a beloved, classic American style.  An extra dose of hoppy goodness to this cask provided by a rest on the fruity Huell Melon.  Enjoy! OG: 1.046, IBU:45, ABV: 5.1%
