Horse figure of the day: Breyer #5603 Lone Star Experience Gift
Any time I come across a miniatures display I look for the Breyer stablemates!
My pictures, taken at the "Worlds Largest Circus Diorama" (their words, not mine) at the French Lick West Baden Museum in French Lick, Indiana, USA

Gems of the Ocean Gift Set by Breyer! While this is a very colorful and pride-y type set, I actually saw them around Breyerfest last year and really liked them! They’re like little pieces of frosted sea glass, so inventive and lovely!! They’re basically little decorator unicorns, so of course they’re right up my alley!

The Suncatchers
So Breyer has arts and crafts kits - primarily in the stablemate line. There is the normal paint and play where the models are white and the paint is opaque. Then, there’s the suncatchers. The paint is colorful and the models are translucent.
I’ve painted a few but these are my favorites.
They hang out on my windowsill and it’s like they glow and it’s awesome. I love them so much.
Back on topic.
The first suncatcher set was released in 2018 (and a unicorn one was released in 2020 however this blog is devoted to non-unicorn models so we’re moving on).
I’ve made this set and it was a blast.
There are also individual (including unicorn variations) paint sets:
Unlike the opaque painting sets, no blind bags are available.
Since suncatchers have become a mainstay, 13 molds have been turned translucent:
- Alborozo
- Arabian Rearing (shown above in my photo after paint)
- Cantering Warmblood
- Frisky Foal
- Magnolia
- Warmblood Mare
- Walking Thourougbred
- Tennessee Walking Horse
- Shetland Pony (Also shown above)
- Scrambling Foal
- Trotting Warmblood
- Mustang
- Quarter Horse
An interesting note to the Trotting Warmblood, Mustang, and Quarter Horse: A suncatcher model is not shown on Identify your Breyer for any of these three molds. However, since I painted one and found pictures on the official Breyer website, there is evidence of additional molds becoming suncatchers.
(Photographic proof)
Since there is at least three suncatchers not listed on Identify Your Breyer, I may do additional posts as needed to catalog all of them, as I encounter them.

I finished this fella up a few days ago. I had the urge to paint a fleabitten grey, and this thoroughbred mold was the perfect canvas for it!
✨ He is FOR SALE on my Etsy and eBay. ✨
Can you believe this little appy is less than three inches tall? I made Breyer's Stablemate Seabiscuit into a buckskin appaloosa mare, and because this mold is so much fun to rehair she's got a mohair mane and tail.
