You smiled as Brian bounced the baby on his knee, the littlegirl laughing wildly. Not quite ten months old and her mess of brown hair wascurly, Brian’s daughter through and through.
“Alright, love, now say it,” He cooed softly, dropping hislips to her forehead. “Da-da, da-da.”
You shook your head and sat on the floor in front of whereBrian sat on the couch.
“Give it up, Bri. It’s going to be mama right, little love?”You grinned at Brian as you ran a gentle hand down the baby’s back. She turnedto look at you and squealed loudly, reaching for you. You scooped her uptriumphantly and rubbed your nose to her’s softly. She clapped her hands toyour cheeks, making you and Brian both laugh.
“Mama, mama, mama,” You said to her in a sing-song voice. “Canyou say mum, hmm?”
She giggled at you and reached to grab at you, but made nosign of saying her first word. You blew out a breath and kissed the small handreaching for you.
“We should get going, yeah?” Brian asked, stretching as hestood. You nodded.
With your baby on his hip and a diaper bag dangling from hislong fingers, your heart couldn’t help but melt at the image of your husband ashe walked out the front door.
The car ride to the studio was filled with a mix of nurseryrhymes and both of you trying to sneak in a “mama” or “dada” every few minutes.
The room was already loud with noise when the three of youcame in, Roger making Freddie laugh and Deacy watching on fondly. They allbeamed when you walked in, Deacy scooping the baby up first before evengreeting you and Brian.
“Well, hello, Cassie,” He smiled at the baby and she grinnedat him, immediately reaching for his hair. Roger and Freddie would never admitit, but Deacy was obviously her favorite uncle.
Roger leaned in to tickle her cheek with his finger.
“How come you always get her first? Don’t you have your ownkids to hold?”
“Can’t help it if babies love me.”
Roger rolled his eyes and took Cassie out of Deacy’s armsand balanced her on his hip as he walked around the studio, talking to hersoftly. You and Brian watched on, content to let the baby be passed around.Brian’s arm slid across your shoulder and kissed your temple. Freddie came tostand by the two of you, his shoulder leaning against yours.
“We made the cutest baby,” You murmured. Brian laughedsoftly.
“I’m inclined to agree,” Freddie smiled fondly.
Roger was helping Cassie tap her hand on the cymbal and shebabbled to him loudly. Roger hummed and nodded intently at the baby’s imaginedconversation.
Your and Brian’s head snapped over to Cassie and Roger.Roger himself had frozen and looked up at the two of you.
Cassie continued to pat her hand on the cymbal.
“She said mum, not drum,” You argued, putting your hands onyour hips.
“She definitely said drum,” Roger shot you a smug smile.
“I don’t believe it,” Brian shook his head. The two of youwalked over to Roger and Cassie and she reached out for Brian, making grabbyhands as soon as he was close. Brian took her and held her close to his chest.
“What did you say, little love? Can you say it again?” Brianwhispered, his hand rubbing her back. Cassie looked up at him and smiled beforereaching up and grabbing his nose. You giggled and Brian rolled his eyes.
Cassie looked over at you when you laughed.
Your heart burst and you were immediately overcome withemotion.
“Told you so,” You gave a watery laugh.
Brian kissed the top of Cassie’s head before pulling youinto his side.
“Love my girls. Even if Cassie is a traitor,” He murmured.Everyone laughed and a peace swept over you as you were held by your husband, your child close and happy, with lifetime friends nearby to share in theincredible moment.
“I’m still her favorite uncle,” Roger turned up his nose.
