Walmart Pay continues to block Apple Pay, rolls out antiquated QR code-based ‘Walmart Pay’
“QR code-based payments have their benefits like tying debit and credit card transactions to store reward cards and saving receipts in one step, but they still don’t beat the convenience of NFC-based methods like Apple Pay which are less finicky and more secure,” Zac Hall reports for 9to5Mac.
“Major retailer Walmart, however, is pushing forward with its plans to make checking out…

Retailer-backed mobile wallet to rival Apple Pay set for test
By Nandita Bose CHICAGO (Reuters) - A retailer-backed rival to Apple Inc's Apple Pay mobile wallet will be tested with customers in a handful of stores in the next few weeks, ratcheting up competition in an increasingly cluttered market. CurrentC was developed by a consortium of retailers under the Merchant Customer Exchange, which includes Wal-Mart Stores Inc, Target Corp and Best Buy Co Inc. The mobile wallet will appear in stores of about half a dozen retailers in Columbus, Ohio, MCX Chief Executive Officer Brian Mooney told Reuters. "We are currently in a beta with several of our merchants and employees, and we will now extend that beta to the public in the next few weeks," Mooney said. http://dlvr.it/BqXVWs
A New Jersey high school teacher used the rapper's latest album to teach a unit on Toni Morrison's novel, The Bluest Eye. Lamar found out about it, and decided to stop in for a visit.
My friends and I were just discussing this. Supremacy has caused a feeling of inferiority from others towards us and even amongst ourselves as the minority. And this is due to systemic issues placed upon us in many, many areas....one big area being education.
It's time to start TEACHING and it's time for children (especially OUR children) to learn and grasp the nature of the context to use to progress themselves.
This teacher Brian Mooney, in this particular story, did exactly that. Music is most certainly a form of journalism and he showed that in a respectful and EFFECTIVE manner by combining the knowledge and words from Toni Morrison’s “The Bluest Eye” and also Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp a Butterfly. I respect Mr. Mooney beyond words for CARING to show these students what they are about. And I respect Kendrick Lamar for solidifying that.
As the young girl stated: “I can connect to it because it’s a language I can understand. Music is one of those universal languages and it’s the best teaching tool you can implement in schools...”

Puzzles in Plain Sight: Coded Puzzles!
In today's blog post, a coded puzzle sneaks up on me in a short story collection!
Given the nature of my line of work, I think about puzzles a lot. But, as it turns out, even when I’m not thinking about puzzles, puzzles seem to find me anyway. As followers of our Instagram account know, last night I was reading a collection of supernatural short stories, Dark Detectives, edited by Stephen Jones. Partway through a story titled “Vultures Gather,” I encountered the following…

Kendrick Lamar visits high school where TPAB is taught
Kendrick Lamar visits high school where TPAB is taught
An English class in a New Jersey high school can claim to have the highest attendance rate in the world (probably!) thanks to a new teaching method being used by English head, Brian Mooney (thats Mr. Mooney to you.) While To Pimp a Butterfly was released to critical acclaim earlier this year, Mooney was comparing its messages to school text The Bluest Eye, by Toni Morrison, about a quiet young…
