Lovingly titled: “Oh, Wow, I’m Really Actually Kinda Happy With My Life Now” a novel by Tim
—-
“Noooo, papa, it’s gotta be taller!” Little Brian complained, trying to stack a block on top of the frankly impressive block castle he and his papa were making.
“If we make it taller it’s going to fall, kiddo,” Steam tried to reason, “You don’t want it to fall, do you?”
“But papaaaaaaa,” Brian whined.
Sighing and smiling, Steam picked the child up and set him on his hip. “Well oookayyyy,” He agreed, “But you gotta be reaaaal careful where you put the blocks now okay?”
Brian nodded, entirely serious as he clutched his block to his chest.
And Tim just sat in his chair, watching. He’d helped the build the base of the block castle, but when his hands had proved a little on the shaky side he’d been relegated to Chair Town by Brian so he wouldn’t knock the castle over. He didn’t mind–it meant he got to watch them go at it without being distracted.
And while he watched, he realized he was smiling. Whole-hearted and stinging his cheeks with the force. His heart felt full and he was warm and–
Holy shit.
Holy shit, he didn’t think he’d ever felt so happy. Ever. Not in his entire life, for sure. Not for most of his afterlife.
But here, now, in a corporeal form in a house that was a lot like paradise with a darling little baby boy who had his genes and his fucking precious idiot husband, and friends and people who considered him family. And mostly his fucking precious idiot husband. He adored that little shit.
Like… Really, seriously adored him. Loved him with every last atom.
And that was… Weird.
But he wasn’t complaining. Good Mother he was not complaining. He was so…
Gods.
What a life.
He was glad that he got this as his second one.
