Season One is Coming to an End
Season One of Destiny 2 ends next Tuesday at 10am PDT/1pm EST. As stated by Bungie at TwitchCon and the above graphic, your clan’s progression will be reset as well as some Bright Engram contents will not be available when the Curse of Osiris DLC drops. Let’s go through what Destiny players will be losing:
Clan Progression:
Bungie stated at TwitchCon that your clan progression will be reset to zero, taking away all perks you all have earned. In Season Two, you will have to reearn some of those perks, but others will be replaced with perks that is more geared towards Season 2. Instead of being Cabal-focused, my guess is that it’ll be Vex-focused. At the same time, clans that have reached Rank 6 will receive an exclusive clan staff.
Armor:
The Optimacy armor sets will be discontinued. They drop (or are sold) at 10 Power Level and only increases the Mobility/Resistance/Resilience stats to avoid being considered over-powered and pay-to-win.
The Leg Armor for all classes is currently being sold for 800 Bright Dust at Eververse.
Emotes:
While the Destiny Community eagerly waits for the patch that adds an emote wheel, you have less than a week to get these four emotes to be able to add to that emote wheel.
Spicy Ramen and Salty are currently being sold for 3250 Bright Dust each at Eververse.
Sparrows:
The exotic sparrows will be gone soon too. Unfortunately, none of them are up for sale.
Ships:
Last but not least, these ships will be gone by next week. Unfortunately, none of these are up for sale as well.
For the collectors out there: unless you’ve been playing nonstop, despite the recent controversies, since launch or put hundreds of dollars into the game via Silver, it is almost virtually impossible to get all or the rest of these within a week. With a large loot pool within a Bright Engram (and the possibility of getting duplicates) on top of the slow leveling process to get free Bright Engrams, the only way to get all of these is to dump money into the game. Not trying to compare Activision/Bungie to EA/Dice, but limited time in-game exclusives that theoretically can be obtained for free or have a chance of obtaining after spending money can be viewed as shady when XP gain was purposefully slowed without the player base realizing. No one is forced in any way to spend a dime on micro-transactions, don’t get me wrong, but Bungie doesn’t necessarily make it easy or less frustrating to get the precious Spicy Ramen emote after getting dozens of useless and ugly Ghost Shells, weapon mods, and shaders.
I would honestly not worry about this. Save your money and just wait for 2020 when Age of Triumph 2 begins and all items return for sale. This is assuming Bungie is able to save their game so we can see AoT2 and Destiny 3 in the future.
See you all in Season Two, Guardians.
Destiny 2 Locks Old Content Behind New DLC Purchase
Destiny 2 Caught Lying About End Game XP Gain
It's hardly surprising that the Destiny community got so angry about Destiny 2's microtransaction system, and the new consumable cosmetics that comes with i…
The Shaders may be a method of player retention and extending end-game play now that the hunt for the God Roll weapon no longer exists, but that doesn’t change the fact that microtransaction lootboxes are inherently problematic when it comes to gambling psychology. Microtransaction lootboxes are gambling. That’s the only way to describe them.
Now if the lootboxes (Bright Engrams) were only available as loot drops and you only used real money to buy guaranteed cosmetics (99 cents for a pack of shaders where I knew what colors I was getting? I’d probably buy that.), you wouldn’t be getting this negative press. The only reason to make random lootboxes purchase-able is to take advantage of those who are vulnerable to gambling.
