It's been a couple of months, and one thing has become clear: I haven't stopped wanting to share writing. I've been getting 3-6 upvotes on a lot of posts, which is slightly more than I'd had with the fanfic, and you know, that's 3-6 brighter days for each post, which isn't bad. I just need to manage expectations.
One meme got me yammering about original fic. That was fun. Ultimately I don't think I'll be doing it more than once a month. I can talk when I've finished something.
Fanfic remains...fraught?...to my mind. I have written one scene since I stopped updating serialephemera. One scene and it's garbage. I've otherwise been directing my efforts toward formatting my old forum material for download. I could put it on AO3 but I feel like AO3 requires a little more polish? People have expectations. And it requires spending days or weeks putting out updates when I could just drop a PDF and call it a day. Therefore: PDF. Expect weekly drops through the end of the calendar year. In weeks to come: Cross Faction Vierce-revenge AU, Lodestone Wynston-cuddles AU, and, if I can pull it together, the entire NDOW universe, featuring ghost!Quinn.
The three parodies of the past week were unexpected. Despite my love of Weird Al I'm bad at fitting somebody else's rhythm and rhyme scheme. I don't do it much. But when I want to share I really, really want to share.
All of which is to say that I think I'll put bright's dumb writing tag back on @serialephemera. This blog will be open...well, I've been thinking a lot about security and public consumption, but...for art appreciation and fandom. There are corner cases! A poem to admire a picture, a video gameplay meme that asks questions about my OCs. I don't have answers yet!
But I do have every intention of putting short pieces, and probably some commentary about writing, on @serialephemera.
