“I didn’t fit in with the suburbs, where a majority of the people dressed in the same fashion. Maybe if I had been brought up in a city, I wouldn’t feel like: I’VE GOT TO HAVE SILVER BOOTS AND THE SILVER HAT AND THE POM POM EARRINGS.  For many reasons, my clothes are my armor, and it’s bad to say ‘armor,’ but I love my armor.  I feel quite positively that the more flayomebent and ‘me’ that I dress, the more positive people’s reactions are. Older women, especially, shout nice things at me on the street. They’ll say, ‘You look very christmas-y.’ To bash away anxiety, a mate and I invented a sport called Frunning. It’s mixture between running and dancing. People say that Phoebe from Friends invented it, but Phoebe is a fictitious character and we’re real. What we do is: in the middle of the day (because we’re both self-employed) we go to our local and dress up ridiculously, like Superman pants over tights. One day, one of my friends showed up in sequin shorts.
