Day 4 17th April Francis Hotel.
Today was my last day of the week, and it was great, I started at 7 but I came 15 minutes earlier, which I which shows that I am willing to work, always the day before the staff knows how many guests have ordered breakfast so they know how busy it is, which really helps because I can prepare and get my self organised and prepared. Today was pretty much the same as yesterday, served customers a Made teas and coffee, cleaned, polished cutlery, and while putting the cutlery Maria one of the staff came up to me and gave a share of the tip, (£1). Which I really apreciated it because I don't properly work here, and it showed that I deserved it which I was really surprised because I never expected it.
After the breakfast service finished and the dining room and the still room was relayed with all the correct cutlery and everything was clean, I went up the bar upstairs and I was working Armura, when I asked her how long she was working she said nearly 8 years, and she works on her own in the bar, so i was glad to help. I'm not allowed to make alcoholic drinks or sell them, however I got the chance to serve some beer to the gentleman. Trying not to spill it, and I was able to take some orders for food, from a family that got breakfast today and yesterday, I don't know if they recognised or not, but I love taking orders because it shows my communication with guests that are paying quite a lot of money for what they are getting.
I also learned how to make cappuccino and latte with the ring of coffee in the middle, and I made some mistakes but it takes time to get things perfect, but Armura said that I was a quick learner, (probably because I love coffee that's why I make good ones ha ha). But even though I have only done a half an hour on the bar, iI appreciate the patience that the staff have because sometimes I double ask, but I prefer to double ask and keep the customer happy rather than ask ones and feel bad when the customer complaints knowing that they pay £20 for just one breakfast and I minimum off a £100 per room per night, but the more I do it the more I practice I will be able to get more confident with myself which will show in my communication with the staff as well as with the customer.
It's Monday and I'm already regretting waking up this morning with a headache and having a shit day.
