Brinkmanship is the practice of trying to achieve an advantageous outcome by pushing dangerous events to the brink of active conflict. The maneuver of pushing a situation with the opponent to the brink succeeds by forcing the opponent to back down and make concessions rather than risk engaging in a conflict that would no longer be beneficial to either side. That might be achieved through diplomatic maneuvers, by creating the impression that one is willing to use extreme methods rather than concede. The tactic occurs in international politics, foreign policy, labor relations, contemporary military strategy (by involving the threat of nuclear weapons), terrorism, and high-stakes litigation.

I think it’s fair to say that Billy Hargrove is rash, egotistical, verbally abusive, resentful, and careless. Further, he does not strike me as particularly driven.

Mr Lothbrok on the other hand is rash, egotistical, verbally abusive, resentful and cunning. Further, he is unbelievably driven.

Ivar would be the better boss out of the two.

BUT....no one is a better boss then TOMMY SHELBY and if I was ever going to write a 32 chapter epic mafia cross over, it would focus on the turf wars between three gangs led by Tommy, Lagertha and Ivar and central to the story would be FORBIDDEN LOVE and ENEMIES TO LOVERS.

I think we all have one massive fic in our head that we don’t start as it would be overwhelming. If I was ever going to write this I would call it BRINKMANSHIP 😬🌹
