You guys, I'm tumblr famous!
Okay, not really. I don't even know what the heck that means, but I wanted to say it. So I'm not tumblr famous or whatever, but I do feel pretty cool because I know for certain I have at least one reader. Thanks to brinstwinbundles, I've been tagged. Now I feel popular and liked and I'm going to fill out this survey to feel even more important! Thanks, Brin!
1. What brought you to tumblr, and who are your five favorite bloggers?
I moved over from Wordpress and I'm still not really sure why. I thought tumblr was the "up and coming" blogging platform and I still regret the move sometimes. I feel too old for this place, like the lone 30-something "mumblr" in a world full of young moms and teenagers trying to conceive. (I didn't even know that was a thing before tumblr, you guys...) But I'm here now, so I might as well make the best of it and blog 'til I decide to do something stupid like move to Blogger.
Brin's Twin Bundles - not just because she nominated me either, I swear. But because she's funny and makes me laugh and has freakin' adorable babies.
Lowe Expectations - she doesn't know this yet, but I wish I was her real life friend. She's a fantastic writer, makes me think and laugh all in one post, and has an adorable baby boy. I appreciate the honesty she expresses through the written word.
Tiarya Tucker - she expresses herself very well and always has something interesting to say. Plus, she lives in Hawaii and had an amazing home birth, so I kind of want to be just like her some day.
Sweet Madeleine - another fantastic writer who can manage to sound poignant and witty in one blog post. She posts great tips about green living, too, which I love.
Mrs. Kurt - this is another lady I want to be real life friends with. I like her because she's smart and offers good advice, plus her boy is adorable.
There are more and the former dweeb in me feels bad for excluding anyone. So if your name isn't on the list that doesn't mean I don't Internet-love you.
Can you see a theme amongst my favorites? They're women who actually write things and don't just reblog pictures of tattoos and food and/or write one-sentence "blog posts" about their boyfriend or the poo they just took. Seriously, a lot of poo talk on tumblr, and not just baby poo.
2. What would you consider to be the most defining moment of your life?
So far? The day I gave my first daughter to her father as a 'surrogate mother'. It shattered my heart and reshaped it in ways that I can't really express in just a few short words for the purposes of a survey.
3. What is your favorite thing about winter?
4. Who are some of your favorite bands?
Journey. The Beatles. Snow Patrol. Sarah McLachlan (I know, she's not a band).
5. Write me a six word short story, please.
Five old ladies went snow shoeing.
6. If we were to go and spend a day together in your city or the closest city to you, where would we go and what would we do?
There's so much to do here in Toronto! Don't visit Toronto in the winter. Let's say you visit me this Spring. We'll go to Harbourfront, catch a Blue Jays game in the afternoon, head to the beach/lake in the evening and have a fabulous dinner somewhere.
7. What do you think is your most attractive quality, either physical or personality wise.
My ability to make anyone feel special and loved. Seriously, that attracts people to me like fruit flies to a cup full of vinegar. Everyone likes to feel good. If we're talking physically, I'd choose my smile.
8. Are you more of a city or country person, and why?
City. I grew up in the country and feel like I'm suffocating when I go back. Which is funny because city air is so much dirtier. Heh.
9. Where would you choose to live, if you could live anywhere, and why?
I'd move back to Vancouver. And I just might some day. Beaches, mountains, laid back people. What's not to love?
10. What is one quote that you find yourself drawn to - from any book, movie, song, etc. And why do you like it so much?
You don't have a soul. You are a soul.
That quote sums up my beliefs and I write about those beliefs on my other blog, The Daily Awe. I don't have any idea who said it first, though.
