May I just say it’s really irresponsible of Disney to give us Oscar Isaac, Diego Luna, and Pedro Pascal in Star Wars but have them all in completely different timelines where we will never experience them together? Frankly, it’s rude.
with our recent new friends added into the mix i thought it was time for another p*dro characters meme. choose wisely and click to enlarge the image.
I would just like to say this one thing:
I know we’re not big fans of G*na and I know it is difficult and not always appropriate to separate the art from the artist so to speak. But it is so crucial that when you make (well-deserved) complaints and call for her to be removed that the separation between G*na and Cara is crystal clear to anyone reading it.
Because moments like this are the perfect opportunity for some misogynist higher-up somewhere to make that into an excuse. “Oh? They want the strong female character out huh? Well, I guess we shouldn’t have another one of those.” And that’s so not good.
So please be clear that the character is not the problem. Openly compliment the depth and strength and greatness of the brilliant character that is Cara Dune, while continuing to speak out against what you believe should not be allowed to continue.
I know it’s tempting to think that the distinction would be common sense, but that is just giving those misogynistic higher-ups way too much intellectual credit.
I made it a meme but seriously: this is so important. In real life we don’t seek closeness with every single person we have something in common with. It’s common sense in that case. We recognize it as unnecessary, hard to maintain, and something that would lead to a lot of strife and a poor mental health. So why is it any different in fandom?
You don’t have to be friends with everyone, in fact you shouldn’t be. You don’t have to try to interact with everyone. You don’t have to follow people you don’t jive with. That’s exactly why this fandom in particular (pp fandom) deals with what seems to be magnified amounts of strife. The fandom really started in earnest within the past year and a half or so as such a small, tight-knit group that everyone knew everyone. And it continues to be small enough that you can easily follow most of the major interactors/active members. In other fandoms, it’s (generally) very different. In bigger fandoms it’s easier to find your niche, a sub-group that you mostly align with that generally fills your dashboard and gives you the freedom to, frankly, get away from the people you don’t get on with. It’s big enough that you won’t have to see people you don’t prefer being reblogged on your dashboard if you don’t want to.
Something about the intimacy of this fandom makes a lot of people feel that they need to be all things to all people or that other people need to be all things to them. And it doesn’t have to be that way. Don’t put that pressure on yourself, or others. Seriously.
Follow, I don’t know, <100 blogs? <50? Keep the people you hold dearly down to <20, even less if that’s what you need. Talk regularly with the people you deem “your people.” Keep loose ties with anyone else. I can guarantee you’ll have a happier, more encouraging experience.
Everyone grumbling about the lekku: I get it, I do. But please remember that you’re comparing a live action design with an animated design.
Please understand how impossible it would’ve been to have Ahsoka’s incredibly long lekku work with the complex actions they had her do. They honestly probably tried it. And it probably fell off or ripped or otherwise hindered her movement.
The designers on this show have gone to great lengths to make this show with as little CGI as possible to make it feel like authentic, classic Star Wars. And I’m glad they chose that route. CGI-ing her look would’ve made it look more true to her original design, sure, but it also would’ve looked so fake.
I so appreciate how they created Ahsoka’s look. It’s obvious they put a lot of thought and work into it to make her as true as possible while also dealing with the limitations of practical effects.
is it a crime to want to be kissed, passionately?
