On Nov. 18, Austin’s own Willie Nelson will receive the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for lifetime contributions to popular music.
Nelson gave major portions of his collection of correspondence, manuscripts, records and awards to the Dolph Briscoe Center for American History in May 2014. In honor of Nelson’s notable award, check out the Briscoe Center’s exhibit on UT Austin campus.
"It depicts not only his music and movie career, but also the impact he has had on our broader cultural landscape and the depth of his contributions as an activist and philanthropist,” said Briscoe Center Executive Director Don Carleton when the collection was announced.
