hot weather with natalie !!! ☀️
(amazingly inspired by the british heatwave... and also because im lonely)

- nat acts like the heat doesn't bother her at first, "I've dealt with worse." she'd mutter only for you to catch her lying VERY dramatically on the coolest patch of floor twenty minutes later...
- she steals your portable fan every single time you aren't looking and if you call her out she just shrugs and says "finders keepers." while watching you with a grin on her face.
- nat insists that ice cream counts as a perfectly acceptable dinner you stop arguing after her second bowl.
- she secretly LOVES when you braid her hair to keep it off her neck she'll pretend shes only letting you because it's practical but the gentle feeling of your fingers running through her hair always relaxes her.
- every cold drink somehow ends up shared she'll take one sip of yours without asking then hand it back with a quiet "thanks."
- at night neither of you can sleep because it's still too warm eventually you both end up sitting on the fire escape or porch with cold drinks watching the sky darken while talking about absolutely everything and nothing.
- natalie complains every time your legs accidentally stick together on the couch "seriously? the weather's personally attacking us."
- she'll surprise you by bringing home a giant bag of ice lollies (popsicles for the americans...) "they were on sale !!!" she says even though you know she bought your favorite flavors on purpose
- the only time she willingly gets in water is during a heatwave if there's a lake nearby she's already halfway in before you've taken your shoes off while splashing you with a smug grin on her face.
- she would absolutely put a cold damp towel over your shoulders if she noticed you looked overheated she wouldn't make a big deal of it just quietly take care of you.
- if the power goes out nat lights candles before realizing they make the room hotter she stares at them for a second before blowing them all out with an annoyed sigh.
- she eventually gives up on looking cool and ends up wearing an oversized band ahirt and shorts with her hair tied back completely not caring with her appearance.
- despite complaining nonstop about the weather she'd absentmindedly reach for your hand whenever you're sitting together after a moment she'd grimace dramatically and go "actually.. too sweaty.." but she'd intertwine your pinkies together instead.
- when the heat finally breaks and a cool breeze rolls in through the windows nat smiles in that rare genuine way she leans against your shoulder and quietly says "thought we weren't gonna make it." before settling in beside you finally comfortable enough to relax.

I am not built for this heat. I’m on SSRIs ffs. My train was cancelled then the next one was delayed. I’m missing my connection. I have never in my life felt this sympathetic towards Odysseus.
People are sunbathing on the train platform and one of the railway workers is walking around sucking an ice lolly.
