Brittberry: Brittany and Rachel finding out Santana cheated on them both.

Rachel gave Brittany a pallid glare. "That's easy for you to say," she squeezed her fists, swallowing, "You're not the one Santana cheated on."

"What?" Brittany blinked. She moved forward. "You don't think she cheated on me, too? I don't know how you don't know this, Rachel, but she was dating me, first!"

Rachel's mouth opened. "What? No... I thought..." She searched for words, then, tears welling up, she mustered, "She said you were dating Artie."

Brittany closed her eyes, hands settling on Rachel's shoulders before slowly pulling her in. She squeezed her. "Guess she lied to us both, huh?"

I am on my usual GLEE bullshit and decided to give my own personal rankings and thoughts on ships involving Ms. Rachel Berry. These are my own opinions and if some of you can’t handle them…keep it to yourself.

Canon:

5. Samchel- This was a relationship that was shoehorned into Season 6 for whatever reason. I won’t deny they have some level of chemistry (certainly Sam is a better duet partner than Finn in my opinion) but also Rachel on a intellectual and emotional level is well beyond Sam. If this had been a relationship during their McKinley days then I would have been honestly more on board with this pairing.

4. St. Berry- Speaking of a relationship shoehorned into S6, these two getting together did not make a lot of sense. God Forbid we don’t end the series with Rachel Berry going back to an old boyfriend again. Again, musical chemistry is off the charts (credit that to Lea and Jonathan and their long-standing professional and personal friendship) but they were too similar to ever truly work together. I didn’t care for this endgame for Rachel.

3. Finchel- Yes I know this was supposed to be the endgame. Yes it’s sad that Finn dies unexpectedly. Yes there are certain moments these two share that are sweet. But honestly? This pairing sucks. It just sucks. Where do I begin? Much of this relationship is toxic and plagued by immature decision making (wanting to get married in HS) jealousy and insecurity issues (Finn always covering Rachel up when she’s looking hot af) , poor communication (the whole thing of Finn just breaking up with Rachel at the train station) and naïveté (Finn thinking he can waltz back into relationship a few months later) and just is awful for a relationship that received three seasons of development. I can’t stand it much. Yes it’s number 3 but only because it wasn’t a bullshit shoehorned relationship.

2. Brochel- Brody did a good job of building up Rachel’s confidence in a way Finn did not much of the time and Brody made Rachel feel safe and gave her a chance to show her sexy confident side. His only knock? Dude should have let on about the work he was doing and been honest about it. This could have allowed a mature discussion instead of the manwhore -shaming and the smack down that occurred.

1. Puckleberry-Now I know you’re asking yourselves “Really James??? This was the best one? Puck and Rachel??” Yes, because who doesn’t love two hot Jews getting together. They were lovely together if rather short-lived. Puck was good to Rachel and Rachel felt comfortable with Puck and is the only person who gets away with calling him Noah and that’s just delightful.

Non-Canon

8. Rartie (Rachel/Artie)- Artie has good musical chemistry with Rachel but they are better off as friends.

7. Cherry (Rachel/Mike)- Mike is a sweet guy, but I just don’t see this one either. (Their friendship in fanfics is fantastic btw)

6. Rachcedes- Honestly these two would be too heated at each other for a relationship to work. As far as wlw ships involving Rachel go, this is my least favorite. But definitely a good friendship. Their interactions in the fanfic I have read is mixed. Sometimes Mercedes is cool and sometimes she’s more mean to Rachel than she ever could have been on the show.

5. Brittberry- While a friendship in fanfiction does work for these two, a relationship would not. Britt doesn’t seem to like Rachel very much in their interactions on the show so this one would be a dud. But also in my head, I think Rachel would be overwhelmed and yet also very satisfied with any sexual encounters with Brittany

4. Kittchel(Kitty/Rachel)- I’ll be honest this just sounds kinda hot. I have no other reason to put this at this point in my list. Yes I know feasibly it doesn’t work. But let’s be real, to quote Kitty herself “if you’re gonna go lezzy with a cheerleader, I think the world is rooting for you and Quinn Fabray”

3. Tinchel- Another one that just sounds really good. I wish the friendship between these two was more developed. But they would be very cute together. Rachel would love to help Tina with her scales if ya know what I mean… *wink*

2. Pezberry- ughhh….just too hot for words. The sexual tension between these two is delicious. Enemies to friends to lovers on a level only exceeded by Faberry. Santana and Rachel are rather excellent partners for each other in that they know how each other in terms of strengths and weaknesses. Neither has been cut more deeply by anyone except each other. Also, they definitely fucked during that Christmas episode. We ALL know it. Their friendship in S4 is amazing and it was so heartbreakingly ruined in season 5. The power this duo had.

1. Faberry- if you know me, you know EXACTLY how I feel about Faberry. The longing stares, the sexual tension, the way they are always in each other’s orbit. Their enemies to friends to lovers arc is amazing. Fanfiction has turned these two into an amazing pairing that balances each other out. Rachel is more selfless and nurturing with Quinn, and Quinn is more expressive and honest. And it’s just incredible. I love them. Smut with them is second to none as well. Just incredible.

Do you think that Brittany hates Rachel like most of the fandom says?

I'm one of the people in the fandom perpetuating that lol.

And look, I don't think everyone quite means the same by it as I do. It's not an actual rage-fueled hatred or anything. It's not that passionate one where the thin line between love and hate exists. Leave that to Pezberry. No, Brittany's feelings towards Rachel are more... neutral, falling on the side of being annoyed by her.

I'd say Brittany doesn't much care for Rachel. She cares for her in the same way she does for all Glee members but that's where it stays. If Rachel does anything that annoys her, Brittany will not hesitate to tell her and she'll actually mean it, unlike Santana.

Maybe saying Brittany hates Rachel isn't the best word for it, just a shorthand. Because it lacks that passion hatred requires and she does at least tolerate Rachel on most days, but she also just... doesn't Get It. You have Quinn and Santana, both of whom have been bullies to Rachel and claimed to have hated her but grew to genuinely care for Rachel, both somewhat begrudgingly to start with. Brittany doesn't have that. And I think, post-series, when they're all in New York and Pezberry are less intense about their friendship but maintain it nonetheless, Brittany does wonder why. It's not that she disapproves of their friendship because she's not gonna be the kind of wife who's not happy for Santana or anything. But like I say she just doesn't get it.

"Brittany hates Rachel" is just a short way of summarizing all of that, at least for me. And I'd also like to note that whenever I imagine Brittberry (Pieberry?) interactions, it's played for laughs. Brittany is just mildly annoyed by/trolls Rachel, not actively hateful.
