Ochre brittlegill (Russula ochroleuca)
Many fungi in the Russula genus are toxic and look very much like the edible species, which possibly wisely discourages some people from gathering any. The ochre brittlegill is one of the safest in this genus to gather, however, being easily distinguishable from the confusing red russulas, infamously difficult to tell apart. The only fungi one might confuse this for is the yellow swamp brittlegill (Russula claroflava), which is very similar except for its slightly more widely space gills, and its preference for boggy, aspen-filled land, as opposed to the drier deciduous woodland preferred by the ochre brittlegill.
