@bellifortis submitted: I would like to show you the biggest and smallest snails I have seen in my life, because I think you would appreciate them even if theyre not bugs.

Big dude was at Stenshuvud National Park, teeny weeny was on my strawberry grown in Scania, so both from the south of Sweden.

Bonus fearless silverfish in the breakroom at work.

I am obsessed with both of them wow. 10/10 really nice. They're slugs rather than snails but I think some languages (must assume Swedish is one of them) don't make a distinction between the two. The first is a black slug, Arion ater, but obviously I can't tell what the second one is due to the very very very very very tiny size. Also a really nice silverfish!

Assortment of slugs! Most likely black slugs (Arion ater) and/or Spanish slugs (Arion vulgaris)

Saw this funky slug on my morning walk yesterday so I decided to do some research. Turns out it’s possibly a Spanish slug (Arion vulgaris), which is a highly invasive species and is destroying a lot of UK gardens (it’s also known as the killer slug). Interestingly enough, Spanish slugs didn’t originate in Spain. Their place of origin isn’t really known for certain but they were first recorded in Britain in 1954.

Alternatively it could also be a common red slug (Arion rufus) or a black slug (A. ater), which are all closely related species. Unfortunately you can only differentiate them through dissection since each species is distinguished through the differences in their genitalia, so we’ll never know.
