BROAD LIGHTING IMAGE EXAMPLES
in Grey’s Book “Master Lighting Guide For Portrait Photographers” he includes very helpful example images so you can have a clear visual understanding of how different types of light affect the overall image and way your subject is portrayed.
Light itself is a “Visual Language”, so it makes sense that by making a conscious choice to select a particular lighting setup over other options, it allows us a photographers to use the light as a means of communication to convey and portray our concept and “feeling”behind the imagery that we create

(**Note: the images that i have ticks are just selected because i think the angle of the subject’s face in relation to the lighting setup, and the light itself is aesthetically pleasing)
As per the description of “Broad Lighting” as see above, you can clearly see I have gone for broad lighting for my shoot
I also however, used a fill light to the left side of my subject (camera right) with a small reflector dish. I did this to balance out the shadows as there was a bit of light fall off.

Guest speaker at Del Mar College - Portrait/Studio Lighting Tutorial
The other day I had the opportunity to be a guest speaker at Del Mar College for Diana Byers class. I HAD A GREAT TIME!! I really love the learning environment… and the fact that people were actively listening to me speak about photography was AWESOME!
