A B SEA... #summer #happyeaster #traveller #brokebackpacker (at Oslob Heritage Park)
A few months ago, I headed off into the wilderness upon a quest. I sought a tattoo from Whang Od, the last living Mambabatok, a ninety seven year old tattoo master living in the jungle clad mountains of the Kalinga Highlands, the tribal heartland of The Philippines. I was lucky enough to become one of the very few westerners tattooed by Whang Od. I received a fern, a symbol of coming of age. To be tattooed by Whang Od was a truly special experience, I felt honoured to have been welcomed into the village and to leave with a permanent reminder of my time spent there.
