"If this is about my fucking nightmares, then your being silly." Again.
She was caring too much again. The hunter had agreed to protect her, not the other way around. He leaned on the table staring her down.
"Its not your job to protect me. The nightmares are not interfering with my job and can’t be the basis for annulling my contract. Your my friend and my boss which means making hard choices but the ones that best for everyone. Annulling the contract will do more harm then good."
He wasn’t just going to let her doing this because she was worried about him. He barely stays at the Manor as it is.
Her brows furrowed and she swallowed in dry to keep her resolve from breaking, eyes glancing downwards slightly to avoid seeing the anger in his face.
"I may need your physical protection, but as my employee, you're also under my care." Keeping her voice steady, she looked up again to see his eyes. "Just because you're not bleeding, it doesn't mean you're not getting hurt."
The Manor was not a place for humans. The fact that she was more than half human herself was a source of concern for her caretakers for long years, but she adapted to it well enough. Even the other hired hunters were all descendants of supernatural creatures, but Zoro wasn't. And however brief his stays were, he was still exposed to the raw energy and the countless souls and unseen beings that roamed the halls.
