it doesn’t have episodes, it has moments where the verisimilitude of the story is so fucking bad its suspension of disbelief breaks and if one of us isn’t actively piloting it at that given moment it has problems because it is, unsurprisingly, wow, this poorly programmed project we made suddenly hit another bug
and then one of us has to get off our asses and get back in control of it but like, we SEE how bad the verisimilitude break is so we’re also just up here going “haha holy shit this story is so bad are you serious what do we even do here” and im sorry but this fake reality is just SO BADLY WRITTEN it’s really a struggle to get invested in it a lot lately??
medicine meant to break its connection with us is absolutely off the table because we programmed it to self-destruct if it can no longer ping home because we know what kind of a trash author is in charge down there
broken-pen replied to your post: So half of the classes I have to take next...

I want to apologize preemptively but what kind of name even is Ankle Grabber
I’m not actually going to abuse my power as security officer to take candid security camera photos of the whole crew for the internet but
please enjoy this live drawing i made of him while watching him on the cameras
there’s a few of his species on board and they’re all kind of weird but they’re all in maintenance which is like a mix of being a space janitor and mechanic.
as for his name, I dunno. my translator is set to translate names directly, so maybe Ankle Grabber doesn’t sound silly in his culture or something.
i like using the translated names of everyone because you don’t risk mis-pronouncing someone’s name and if they have the same setting it just lets them hear you saying their name since you’re saying your language’s version of it so it gets translated back into their name so like
i mean really, i haven’t encountered a culture yet whose names didn’t have meaning. I mean Shenohupschut is how you’d actually say my name if you were trying to like, say it like how I’d say it among other earthlings, but it just means Far-Wend.
it actually is the uh 3rd-person feminine lative-declined verb Wend with the adverb “far” on the front, and more directly means “girl goes towards distant” and since it doesn’t actually have a noun it sounds incomplete
actually its being incomplete kinda
you know what i have another ask about names i’m gonna finish this thought in that one
Hi there, long-time fan and owner of the 1st edition + expansion here. My friends and I are pumped for the three announced 2nd edition expansions, but before I pre-order, I'd like to ask if these expansions are compatible with my current set. I know esp. balancing can be a bit finicky with games like this, so would there be any issues?
The 2nd Edition expansions Depth Charge, Like Clockwork and Dark Ambition are exclusively compatible with the 2nd Edition only.
You can pre-order the Depth Charge expansion set on eBay!

All natural: I didn't even try to make my handwriting look good. Also this gave me college flashbacks of trying to write down notes as quickly as possible but the professor's talking too fast and Oh God they justsaidthiswasonthetestslowdownplshalp
Anywho. Do it if you want
Headcanon Theories, Act 9 [THE RETURN]
Chaotic Conundrums: The Elements of Harmony as we know them today were actually a single powerful magic amp. Created by the First Worldmaker, the Stone of the Soul was split into seven pieces after the First Worldmaker planted it beneath the future site of the Castle of the Royal Sisters. Six of them bloomed into the Elements of Harmony, and the seventh became the Crystal Heart after the First Crystal Princess visited the tree. After a great tragedy befell the Empire, the Crystal Princess gave her own soul to the Heart, ensuring it's energy would protect the Empire in the future.
Chaotic Conundrums: When the Elements were returned to the Tree, it was able to grow another seed but lacked the magic to fuel it. This was provided by six items that had a life-changing effect on the largest sources of soul magic in Equestira: the Bearers of Harmony. One day this new tree may bear a similar seed, ensuring a new way to defend Equestria far in the future.
broken-pen: ^2^
broken-pen: a very good headcanon
Chaotic Conundrums: oh yeah, and I also made a bit of a summary of all the headcanons that I've put into the Crystal/Chaosverse
broken-pen: oh man. Was it much?
Chaotic Conundrums: in quantity? yes. In length? it's shorter than the Tree one I just sent
broken-pen: oh, because you didn't write them all out?
Chaotic Conundrums: no cause I gave the summarized versions of them
broken-pen: yeah, what I meant u2u
Chaotic Conundrums: oh
Chaotic Conundrums: then yeah
Chaotic Conundrums:
>Discord and the Alicorn Amulet were created through crystal abuse
>the Mirror Pool has Clone jewels in it
>the mines under Canterlot was a result of unicorn elitists wanting more crystals as catalysts
>Sombra was corrupted by mixing fragments of the Crystal Heart with either Shadow crystals or Rainboon
broken-pen: sounds very good u2u
Chaotic Conundrums: sorry if I'm babbling or something. Kinda hard to just have a normal conversation with my connection the way it is. >_>
broken-pen: nah, everything's alright u2u
broken-pen: I mean I ~think~ I know all of these
Chaotic Conundrums: I think the only completely new one is the Sombra one
broken-pen: hmmmm, right, now that you mention it
broken-pen: we still have the crystal heart how could it have been corrupted?
Chaotic Conundrums: what do you mean?
broken-pen: what do you mean by "mixing the crys.... Ooooooooh, fragments! /)_u
Chaotic Conundrums: oh
Chaotic Conundrums: ye
broken-pen: so, he, like
broken-pen: scraped some pieces off of the crystal heart?
Chaotic Conundrums: that was one of my two ideas. The other was the heart was damaged during some kind of battle and Sombra stole a few fragments in the aftermath. The Heart itself eventually grew back what wasn't collected.
broken-pen: aaaah, I see
broken-pen: hm, both sound pretty good
Chaotic Conundrums: well that's something at least
broken-pen: so what kinda guy was Sombra before he went all Evil Overlord?
Chaotic Conundrums: Luna's magic apprentice, a bit of a recluse who preferred furthering his studies to the company of others, and had a tendency to lash out at times. He went to the Empire to continue his studies at request of the Princess, similar to Celestia sending Twi to Ponyville.
broken-pen: o:
broken-pen: a very interesting approach
broken-pen: also, I don't think I've seen Sombra being Luna's apprentice before
Chaotic Conundrums: I've heard it once or twice before, but everyone favors him being a resident of the Empire (see AKS backstories)
broken-pen: also, I think what I've seen so far prefers him being more or less equal in rank to Luna
broken-pen: i. e. not subordinated
Chaotic Conundrums: I just like the idea that both Celestia and Luna's pupils delved too deeply into magic and became monsters. Twi is the first successful student they've had.
broken-pen: o_o
broken-pen: th-the ~very~ first?
Chaotic Conundrums: oh well
Chaotic Conundrums: maybe not the VERY first
Chaotic Conundrums: but the first SINCE those two
Chaotic Conundrums: cause Sunset didn't exactly go well
broken-pen: hm, wait
broken-pen: Sunset was a pretty recent student, right?
broken-pen: I'm just wondering if Celestia had any apprentices in the time when Luna was on vacation
Chaotic Conundrums: The IDW comics portrayed her banishment through the mirror as happening a little before Twilight's entrance exam, so I'm willing to say yes
broken-pen: oh, wow
broken-pen: so they're still, like, 10 years apart
Chaotic Conundrums: eeyup
broken-pen: at least in the horsiverse
broken-pen: doesn't seem to hold true in the high school AU
Chaotic Conundrums: yeah, no accounting for the passing of time in there, as far as I know
broken-pen: hmmm, still
broken-pen: I do wonder how Celestia's apprentices fared in all the thousand years before Sunset Shimmer
Chaotic Conundrums: indeed. Or if she had many at all.
broken-pen: exactly
Chaotic Conundrums: but imagine how much more relieved Celestia must have been after S1E2. Not only did she get her sister back, but her student's outing didn't result in another mistake to be added to Celestia's potentially huge list
broken-pen: yes
broken-pen: and then imagine her at S2E03
broken-pen: Lesson Zero
Chaotic Conundrums: hoo boy, yeah
