Dal 1968 al 1975 il Bronx era in mano alle gang, che si sfidavano a sangue per il controllo della zona. Uscito durante l’estate, il bellissimo documentario Rubble KIngs, diretto da Shan Nicholson, narra le vicende di alcuni valorosi e dimenticati personaggi, che riuscirono a imporre una visione pacifica della convivenza tra le bande di quartiere. Il movimento venne rivoluzionato da questa ondata positiva, le battaglie per strada si trasformarono in jam a colpi di breakdance e il dj divenne fulcro della scena e animatore delle piazze (grazie ai party e ai soundsystem).
