Very Best Cover Tournament Redux
The first tournament this blog ran was for the the Very Best Cover, but in all the polls, we never voted on the frank comparison of each cover versus the original version. This special feature will allow voters to determine which version of the song is better: its original incarnation, or the cover that competed in the tournament.
Note that some of the original recordings will be deep cuts the listener is unfamiliar with, because a cover (whether the one that competed in the tournament, or another) is more famous.
Which is better?
The Kill by 30 Seconds to Mars
The Kill by Brooklyn Duo
After hearing Nicola and Luke chose True Colors to listen to while <SPOILER> dancing at a ball, I wanted to hear it as a “classical” song ala Bridgerton style. So just in case the song doesn’t make the cut, I found this on YouTube.
Janna Jyrkinen's short program costume at the 2023 Lombardia Trophy and 2023 Finlandia Trophy. She skated to Flowers by Miley Cyrus, and Brooklyn Duo's cover.

Another one added to the Polin Playlist ✅
Seriously this arrangement is so enchantingly lovely you guys. I love the original song by JVKE (and it’s on the playlist too) but this really pulls the regency vibe together for me. Treat yourself 💚

if you haven’t listened to brooklyn duo’s star wars medley, you’re absolutely missing out on one of the most beautiful renditions of the force theme, just saying
