Brother Cellanus Propaganda

Brother Cellanus is a cheerful medieval monk, trying to convert sex workers and supernatural beings in 9th century York. He frequently almost dies in his attempts to do so. If he wasn’t an inherently good person he would definitely be the kind of guy to scream at people in the street about Jesus. He also got crucified by Vikings. (He got better.)

Well since i saw that post from the author's blog and Cellanus is definitely The Most catholic character i could possibly think of.....

they don't say it out loud but he is from spain like real life spain and they heavily imply via directly referencing the virgin of guadelupe that it's just normal real life catholicism. and he doesn't steal from churches. so it's, like, an 80% chance that he's catholic

Currently rewriting Brother Cellanus and going absolutely insane looking at early medieval penitentials trying to see if they have any guides on how to start confession, instead of just listing the penances.

This drawing does technically contain spoilers for volume 5 regarding Felix’s character arc, but I had fun drawing this, so I’m posting it anyway!

I used a base by mellon_soup on Pinterest as I am still bad at drawing anatomy myself. I had a lot of fun playing around with texture for this piece too. I’m not entirely pleased with the anatomy, so if anyone has any suggestions on what to do in the future, that would be much appreciated!
