I decided to give Brother's Theme a listen and damn I forgot how beautiful how melancholic it sounds. It doesn't have the right to be this good!

Maybe if the writers put that on their earphones and close their eyes they'd be reminded of the vibes the siblings were supposed to have.

Oh, I absolutely agree! “Brother Theme” is so amazing! I mean, to be fair, I have to say that HPHM music is pretty good in general, but this one piece is simply another level.

Sadly, I’m afraid your suggestion might not work either way. It seems that JC turned it into a generic emotional music theme. I don’t mind it being used for Rowan, but I didn’t really like it being used in Chiara’s TLSQ, and I absolutely hated it being used for Peregrine. And sadly, I’m not talking only about meeting Perry – the theme was also played when this piece of shit fell off the bridge.

It really is a shame that it lost its significance. But as you pointed out, the relationship between the siblings lost its original character, too. Hell, now that I think about it, it actually became quite insignificant as well. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not really gonna complain about it – the less Fugly Slut is in the game, the better. But at the same time, it just feels sad that Jacob simply… doesn’t feel important anymore, in my opinion. Do you know he wasn’t even mentioned in the chapter about MC’s graduation? I suppose it’s because he’s at the hospital and whatnot, but damn, they could’ve at least given us a short scene where he sends us a letter with congratulations or something. Jacob Ellis would have to be dead to not be there for Helena on a day like this.

But oh well, I guess.

I am reeeeaaaally sorry to bother, but did you notice that they used brother's theme on "her" death?

First off,don’t be sorry. Seriously, my box is always open so feel free to ask aboutanything.

And yes! I did notice that! In fact, they also used it in the “Farewell” scene inthe Great Hall. Though, to be honest, I’m not sure if it’s supposed to tell usanything.

“BrotherTheme” occurs in the game very rarely. So rarely that you’d think that it hasto be meaningful, considering its name. It was used for the firsttime during MC’s very first vision in the Artefact Room, in Y1. Interestingly,MC didn’t identify the voice as Jacob’s then. Then, it was used again in Y2,when Ben was missing, and we found the first note from R (not even a BlackQuill), also in the Artefact Room. This was a bit more confusing, especiallythat the music didn’t play in the Vault of Ice either (and it wasn’t patcheduntil now). It played again in the Vault of Fear, but not in the Forest Vault. Because of all of that I had the idea that “Brother Theme” is being used when we’re incontact with real Jacob. It gave me all kinds of feelings about thePortrait Vaults since the music didn’t play originally when we finally foundour brother - they fixed it later. I still like to think that they changed itonly because the players got too suspicious.

But then…they added “Brother Theme” in the photography scene in Chiara’s TLSQ. Itwas really disappointing, in my opinion. Because yes, it was a fitting melodyand all, but it also had nothing to do with Jacob. It seems like they simply turned “BrotherTheme” into a stirring theme – which is a shame. I guess it could be the case with the current events as well. Although I have to say, the use of that now isway more acceptable than it was with Chiara (sorry not sorry; Chiara is precious,but that TLSQ didn’t deserve “Brother Theme”).

That beingsaid, if it’s still an implication for Jacob’s involvement when used in themain story, it’d go pretty well with my “Six minutes” AU where Jacob helpedRakepick fake Rowan’s death. Just sayin’.

I WAS SUPPOSED TO PAY ATTENTION TO THAT, AND I FORGOT UNTIL NOW. BUT I’VE CHECKED AND THERE WAS NO “BROTHER THEME”!

I didn’t notice there was no brother theme. Also Don’t forget Jacob was wearing full gloves, which in media is something almost only antagonists and people who are hiding things wear. Rakepick is wearing full gloves too all the time and look where that got us. Not to mention that we even got the option to distrust him screams Chekhov’s gun

I think most people didn’t notice. Either because we were too distracted by what’s happening, or people play without sound, or they’re not even aware of its existence.

The interesting thing about “Brother Theme” is that it was used only two times in the game if I recall correctly. The first time: during our first vision in the Artefact Room. The second time: before a duel in the Vault of Fear. Why such a beautiful theme which is called specifically “BROTHER theme” is so underused? Why not put it in for every vision?

If you ask me, it’s not even that we shouldn’t trust Jacob. I’d say it wasn’t the real Jacob at all.

I’ve noticed recently that “Brother’s Theme” is playing in the background in the scene where MC has the very first “vision” in the Artefact Room, as well as right before the duel in the Vault of Fear. However, it doesn’t play in the other Vaults.

I swear, at this point, I identify myself more with Jacob than MC.

I can't believe they put Jacob's theme song to the same scene as MC talking to Peregrine. Talk about insult to a great and once-meaningful tune.

I know, right? I had the same reaction when I played that chapter.

Although I have to point out that “Brother Theme” kind of lost its meaning a while ago already. For example, it was used in the “Lone Wolf” TLSQ after our duel with Chiara when MC finds the sunrise photography. Of course, it wasn’t nearly as insulting as with Peregrine, but… it doesn’t make sense either? Jacob had nothing to do with that situation. They could’ve at least made MC mention him somehow later on, like… I don’t know…

“It reminds me of Jacob, in a way. It’s hard now because he is missing/is in hiding, but there’s still hope we’re gonna be a happy family again.”

It really is a shame that Jam City apparently doesn’t care about the meaning behind this theme anymore. They basically turned it into “a generic emotional soundtrack”.
