($) Brothertothefire's Crossing
I ended up in a field near the great citadel. From my position, I could see the white, high walls in the light of the sunset. As I said, they were etched with a sigil-- at first it looked like a swirling decoration, but since I’ve worked with sigils it soon became clear. In order to see the entirety of it, I’d have to walk around the entire citadel, which was a long walk. But for the moment I assumed it to be some sort of protective marking. They symbol glowed faintly so I also knew it was imbued with power.
I started walking towards the citadel, hoping to enter it. Nearby were a flock of sheep. At least, I thought that’s what they were at first. They were white and had a wool-like coat, which was about as much detail as I could make out. One by one they became alerted to my presence and raised their heads to look at me. Then, the sheep who seemed to be the leader of the flock came running at me. This was strange enough, as sheep usually need herders to do anything in unison. But I didn’t think about that much at the time. As the sheep got close, I saw that they had relatively large, sharp, pointed teeth.
I’m aware that this might sound extremely stupid or fantastical, but these were carnivorous sheep. (Well, they probably aren’t called sheep but I call them that.) I was about to draw my sword, but decided instead to try to sprint to the citadel door. And so I ran, chased by the entire flock. (I must have looked like an idiot but I don’t like killing animals if I don’t have to.)
As I got close to the citadel I noticed a moat. I sprinted and leapt into it, thinking that I probably would be safe. But all of a sudden, the moat started flowing in a circle around the citadel. I’m assuming this had something to do with the powers of the sigil, as it was quite unnatural. The sheep stopped at the edge, champing their teeth, but then the force of the moat/river started to bash me against the wall of the citadel and pull me under. (I was definitely caught between a rock and a hard place.)
But now that I was close to the citadel, I started getting strange energy readings from the sigil. And I think somehow it told me what I needed to tell you. Because while in the water, everything became clear. And so as soon as I learned everything I needed to know, I called the mists and returned to my physical body.
You are being called to this citadel. They wouldn’t let me in because they thought I was an intruder. You will come across the field and the citadel. When you get there, you will have to somehow convince the guards to open the door before the sheep get to you. You could always fight them off, but I think they will be helpful later on.
Inside the citadel, once you prove yourself friendly (and probably show them something to prove you’re an asset) the guards and warriors will tell you of their plight, most likely a battle, and request your aid. A hint I have for you is to befriend the sheep or try to train them. Even though it will be strange and difficult, the carnivorous sheep could be a huge help if you have to battle an enemy force.
