Desert Cardinal - May 2025 The desert cardinal, also known as an Arizona Brown Cardinal, and official known as a Pyrrhuloxia, is considered a rare bird. I have only seen it at a distance and have not been able to capture an image of it. It does, however, share the cardinal trait of fighting with itself in the mirrors of Rvs. That is what enabled Kathy to capture these images one day. They are really great shots of a rare bird. Images three and four may or may not be a female desert cardinal. The tail and wings look right as does the color, but the beak is wrong… maybe. In any case they are also good images of desert birds.
