He lost sight of his date hours ago, but that was the least of Warren’s concerns. The only thing on mind at the moment was getting some much needed nicotine into his system. The liquor in his glass sloshed over the side as he pushed open the glass door to the upstairs balcony. The music coming from downstairs was so loud he failed to notice the click the door made as it locked when he pushed it closed behind him. Warren retrieved his pack of cigarettes from his pocket and felt around for his lighter but paused when he noticed the woman standing near the railing already puffing on a lit cigarette. “’Scuse me ma’am, you got a light?” Warren asked, unlit cigarette hanging from his lip as he approached the detective.
