in the world of high society and elite vampires, it was all about asserting dominance. whoever saw themselves soaring sky high above the rest, could be lingering on the bottom within a matter of one social event. the constant shifts of power and social dynamics were an interwoven jungle in which everyone somehow knew each other in one way or another without even being aware of it. influence and control had to be proven over and over again, it was no world for the weak-minded or weary. and luckily, hyun was a man of power moves. it wasn't that hyun mistrusted any of his hunters that were burdened with the mission of eliminating level a vampires, it was just that having the mere opportunity to check on things felt a little bit safer than leaving them to their own fate. at least that's what he told himself when hyun ordered one of his lackeys to have an exact copy of seungjae's apartment key made. 'trust is a good thing but control is a better one', hyun thought when he turned the key in the lock to be met with total darkness inside. just before he could close the door behind him, a tiny meow made him halt his movements. the cat he had nearly run over when the parked his car around the block apparently sought the sweet thrill of death and adrenaline and had followed him all the way to the apartment complex and up the stairs. hyun shrugged. some company until the arrival of that mess of a hunter wouldn't hurt. little did he know inside another feline was already expecting the presence of her owner and only released a disgruntled hiss at hyun and the white ball of fur that was elegantly toying between his legs. he shooed the black cat off of the couch, which earned him an extended meow and within seconds the white stray cat had found a comfortable place which just so happened to be hyun's lap. "we're gonna do some waiting, hm? you're gonna help me?" hyun said quietly, scratching the white feline behind her ear. the waiting game wasn't a long one. soon after hyun had so deliberately invited himself into the hunter's place, the lock got turned once more. he pitied he inferior senses of human, had seungjae been a vampire, he would have heard hyun's breath from outside the entrance door. the vampire had no intentions of moving, he remained seated and in total silence on the couch with his little friend on his lap curled up into a ball. the light in the hallway found its way on, eerily illuminating the unknown environment. steps approached which hyun estimated to be seungjae's, the man of the hour. "welcome home, honey", he finally spoke up before the man could even properly set foot in his own living room. no welcome meow from the cat, how impolite. / / @brseungjae
