I need Batcave access. Only if it is. Not occupied. Alone.

@justice-in-black yo did you pose for this or does alex js have a really good memory of what you look like when you look like a kicked puppy
A text pings on the phone (that alex technically wasn't supposed to have right now, per Bruce's rules). It's from Steph.
so bruce and dick were working a missing persons case, found a false lead, got stuck with giggle gas (Smilex). antidote yet to be administered, I suggest you get your ass over here
@justice-in-black
Oh, Jesus. On my way. Anything else you can tell me? Or is it confidential?
He scribbles down a note for Thea to find later before he heads out. Looks like he's going to need to leave sooner than he thought.
Anything about the antidote you're using, which version of Smilex...?

Going days without Alex, going to social functions, going on patrol, worrying for days—and then the promise of at least 3 more days without her? Sounded more painful than a fight alone with Bane with no backup on the way. And she technically agreed, so down he flew all the way to Georgia, definitely not happy that he would have to stay in Crane's childhood home, have to rent a car from a bigger town to get to Arlen, or have put up with the small community gossip, but he would manage. For her.
Sun setting, her location on the map on his phone the dash; he pulls up to the tiny town that couldn't possibly have held more than three neighborhoods, to the gates of a larger house on the outskirts, Alex's car in the dirt drive. The front door was open, from what he could see, but the only sound inside that could be heard were crows.

The doors to the Iceberg Lounge open, allowing the music inside to go from a muffled thump to a roar that makes his head throb. Working the bar with Ophelia is Alex, sleeves rolled up, tired smile on his face, chatting with patrons. His glasses slip down his nose and his eyes sharpen just a little as they meet Brucie's. They quickly find another patron to focus on, cocktail shaker in hand.

Bruce wakes up in her bed with a blink. First his eyes go to his empty arms, then the clock. 7am. Usually he woke up with her, 6:30 on the dot. How tired was he really? Bruce usually wouldn't even oversleep, even after the most brutal patrol. He remembers last night too clearly for his liking, and he's hit with a wave of embarrassment. He sits up; hips flaring pain reduced to a dull ache overnight. Listening, he can hear the connected bathroom's shower, steam seeping out of the crack in the door, and chatter coming from the living room across the hall.
It was a very nice view I had.
