do you have any obscure bands you could recommend? any genre works
okay this isn't a band per se but it's one of my favorite albums ever and also it's a weird one (i like a lot of weird experimental electronic stuff from the 40s - early 70s lol) so bear with me here
so back in the 60s there was a guy up in canada named Bruce Haack. he mostly made albums for kids but in the late 60s he heard a bunch of the psychedelic music coming out and decided "i'm gonna make an album for grown-ups" and recorded this album called "The Electric Lucifer". If you listen to the lyrics it's all about how Lucifer comes down to earth and turns good through the magic of "PowerLove", And Yet: this record sounds way more sinister to me than a band that was trying to be scary on purpose.
Synthesizers were first starting to take off around this time but since most people either didn't know how to use them or couldn't access them (unless you worked at a studio) AND since they weren't really taken seriously as instruments anyway, the electronic stuff coming out around then mostly consisted of novelty records (goofy covers of current pop songs for the most part). so when i first heard the opening track of this album i thought it was another one of those but the longer i let it play i thought "wait hold on....there's something more interesting going on here"
