finally reading Jason’s post-crisis origin as Robin and honestly I’m loving a lot about this but oh my god the implication behind Bruce’s thought processes here
like I love that this random street kid stealing his tires actually impressed him and made him laugh, I love that he sent him to a supposed safe place but did not at all let it go and spent the day digging up dirt on his parents instead, that’s top tier obsessive weirdo right there
but
he really told Dick it was too dangerous to bring a kid along on his work and then almost immediately found a younger child to bring along on his work huh
and when called on it he really says well yeah because this one is a homeless fifth-grade-dropout who is already on track to become a criminal so I’m going to help him off that track by training him to fight crime instead, as if moving the kid into a giant mansion where he can go to school and not need to procure for himself the basic necessities of survival wouldn’t be enough to do the trick
I think this says either something very sad about how Bruce sees Jason or something very funny about what Bruce thinks traumatized orphans need to get better, and since this is coming from the mind of a man who felt the need to dress up like a bat to punch criminals to deal with his own trauma, I’m going to go ahead and choose to see it as the latter
