Trial Lawyer Bruce Braley Tells Voter He Is A Farmer

Bruce Braley just can’t help himself. At an Independence Day parade in Iowa Falls last weekend, Braley was walking down the streets of town, glad-handing parade watchers as his staffers chanted “Vote Bruce Braley!” instead of, say, anything patriotic.

As trial lawyer Braley approached one woman, seated on a lawn chair, the following exchange took place:

WOMAN: “We’re farmers.”  BRALEY: “So am I.”  WOMAN: “But so is Grassley.”  BRALEY: “So am I.”

Cue: record scratch. This is the same Braley who infamously slammed Chuck Grassley for being “a farmer from Iowa who never went to law school” and then later said being a trial lawyer is “no different” than farm work.

Don’t worry though, Jennifer Jacobs at the Des Moines Register sets the record straight:

Braley is not an active farmer. He doesn’t own farm land and doesn’t earn any farm income, according to his federal financial disclosure reports. He doesn’t perform or manage any farm operations, campaign aides said today.

Welp. That settles that.

You Don’t Need A Law Degree To Realize The Braley Campaign Is Embarrassing Itself

Less than 24 hours after Joni Ernst clinched the GOP nomination, the Braley campaign tried to deliver a swift hit against her. And boy did they whiff. Braley actually compared Ernst to a peep-less chick. Let’s say that again: Braley compared his female opponent to a chick.

Timothy Hagle, a professor of political science at University of Iowa put it best in this tweet:

“Imagine if a GOP candidate had used a “chick” in an ad against a female opponent.”

But the stumbling doesn’t stop there.

Braley campaign surrogate, Democratic State Sen. Steve Sodders,used his own choice words to attack Ernst’s ad:

“‘In part of her ad, she talks about mutilating animals and riding Harleys all the way to Washington, DC,’ Sodders, said.

It was only a few months ago that Braley embarrassed himself by mocking Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) for being a farmer and misspelling commonly used words about farming.

Now Braley’s campaign is saying hog castration is the equivalent of “mutilating animals.” As The Des Moines Register‘s Kathie Obradovich noted:

“Equating hog castration to animal mutilation suggests at best ignorance of widely used and accepted practice in livestock production.”

Maybe the Braley camp forgot that 1 in 6 Iowans’ jobs is created by farming or that The World Pork Expo is currently underway at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

Bruce Braley, Julia Brownley, And Pete Aguilar Tied To Obama Donor Under Investigation

Yesterday, TPM reported that the offices of major Obama and Democrat Super PAC donor Kareem Ahmed were raided by the Orange County, California District Attorney's Office. The reasons for the investigation are unknown, but a search warrant was executed on Tuesday.

President Obama isn't the only Democrat receiving campaign cash from Ahmed. Three Democrats in competitive 2014 races have received thousands from the controversial donor:

Bruce Braley Defends Keeping House Gym Open, Complains About No Towel Service

Today, on the Bill Press Show, Bruce Braley (D-IA) defended keeping the House gym open during the government shutdown.

Braley then went onto complain about how he couldn't have towel service at the gym during the government shutdown. And that he pays $260 a year for his gym membership.
