Even if Kyvien was smaller, Brumeth could feel the wind knocked out of his chest. "Not when we aggravated that Hutt's rancor, I'll give you that," he wheezed before catching his breath. The Zabrak shifted to more comfortably support the other's weight, holding the smaller man carefully. "Didn't we sneak out one night, though? After our masters had fallen asleep, and I wanted to see the constellations?" Brumeth grinned. That was one of his fonder memories, he knew that much.

Brumeth

1. What is one thing others might find intolerable about them?

He stays up too long. I don’t even know if he actually sleeps lol. He gets restless at night, and wants to be doing something. I don’t know if it’s insomnia or he just doesn’t sleep as much as other people, but he leaves all the lights on when he’s up at night as well. If you share the same room with him at night, he’d probably keep you up.

2. Do they have any annoying quirks? If so, what are they?

I don’t know if it’s annoying, but he kinda frowns when he works. Whether it’s writing (or studying, when he was younger), or even meditating, he frowns. He permanently has this grumpy looking face, even though he’s hardly a grumpy guy. 

3. Name one or more of their bad habits.

Not sleeping at a reasonable time. Talking to himself and muttering when he’s writing. I think he flops around a lot when he actually does sleep.

4. Any addictions? (Food, sex, drugs/alcohol, shopping, power/control, etc.)

Again, assuming that “addiction” refers to something that someone is obsessed with, to the point where it negatively effects their life, no.

5. What is one thing they do that can negatively affect their relationship with friends?

I… don’t actually know? He may be a bit aggressive in his conversations. Especially if he’s passionate about the topic, he might basically take over the conversation, leaving no room for other people to talk.

6. Their romantic relationships?

Only Kyvien? It started out as a close bond just as padawans, and eventually they ended up working together when they became masters. Somewhere along the line something happened, and their relationship, which was rather intimate* from the beginning, changed a little to include romantic aspects.

*intimate as in super duper close, not romantic

7. What is the biggest mistake they’ve ever made?

Pick one out of the many ridiculously juvenile and ridiculously amusing stories and mishaps they had as padawans.

8. What mistake(s) do they continue to make/have not learned from?

To not mess with the astromech and let it do its job. I’m pretty sure Brumeth has a million tiny scratches and dings from that thing, and it’s his fault entirely for aggravating it.

9. Name some of their major physical shortcomings.

HE’S TOO TALL. HE BUMPS INTO DOORWAYS. HE GETS HIT WITH BRANCHES. HE CAN’T FIT INTO TINY CREVICES OR ANYTHING.

10. Some of their emotional shortcomings?

Probably a bit passionate for a Jedi, or seems that way at least. He’s very straightforward when it comes to his emotions, and you can see it in his face. 

11. What are their intellectual shortcomings?

He’s terrible when it comes to things like math and science. Yet another reason why he shouldn’t question the astromech.

12. At least one thing that they tend to overreact to.

He’s not the kind to really overreact tbh? He acts over dramatic, but he rarely means it.

13. In what ways might they be overly negative and/or pessimistic?

He doesn’t like the Empire at all. Even defectors, he doesn’t like. Probably saw too much propaganda as a youngling or something, idk.

14. Is there anything they are too optimistic about?

I don’t think he fully realizes the extent to which the war has damaged the Republic tbh. He thinks they could recover quickly (he’s rather patriotic I suppose), but it’ll be much longer than he actually thinks.

15. How might they be ignorant or prejudiced?

As I mentioned, he hates the Empire. If it’s related to the Empire, then it’s bad.

16. Do they have any behaviors and/or beliefs that cannot be adequately justified?

He shouldn’t get away with being so brash.

17. When would they be too judgmental of someone or something?

"Hello, I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced. I am Master Keiroda—""You have an Imperial accent.""Well, yes, I was born and raised—""As Sith?""Yes, but I defected to the Republic.""You’re still from the Empire.""I defected and willingly gave up all of my knowledge on Imperial battle strategies.""You’re still from the Empire though, right?"Brumeth doesn’t trust Imperials. Even defectors.

18. Are they ever a pushover about something? If so, how?

Quite the opposite tbh.

19. Is there anything they refuse to budge on? What are they stubborn about?

Basically everything.

20. What is a self-inflicted misery of theirs? (i.e. something they perpetuate themselves)

I think he romanticizes the idea of being a martyr and pretends to be one a lot.

Brumeth, what do you think of your roleplayer letting you fall in love with Kyvien?

"I... find it an odd choice, really. I don't really question it, but it's amusing to think about." The large Zabrak shrugged casually and gave a half grin. "As far as romance arcs go, it's a very... happy one. I've heard there are roleplayers who put their characters through hell, just for the sake of it." He wrinkled his nose. "I'm happy. As long as we don't get in trouble for... this, I'm satisfied."

For those who don't remember: The meme question was, "where you give me an ask with one of my characters and one of your characters and I tell you what my character would/does think of yours and how they’d get along."

Anyway, here we go!

Brumeth and Kyvien

Brumeth groaned, hands on his knees, panting. He wasn't the best at fighting. He never was. "Fix your stance," the master offered unhelpfully to the young Zabrak, "And you'll be fine." She stepped away to let him catch his breath. Instead, he collapsed on the ground, hoping to gain enough breath before he started meditating. There was no way he'd be able to get anything done otherwise. As he continued breathing, a face appeared in his vision; he squinted to focus on it.

"You need a hand?" a human male offered, holding out a brown hand for the alien. "Thanks," he grunted, pulling himself up to his feet. "I appreciate it."

As the human, who introduced himself as Kyvien, properly explained how to fix his stance, and how to hold that stance, Brumeth decided to himself that maybe all humans weren't that bad.

Slovir and Y'ael

He felt pity for the man, crumpled on the ground. He really don't know how else to react, and instead sat still before him. When Lei'ti accused him of being unsympathetic, it jarred him. She was right, too- he was still learning to be a better Jedi. After being sheltered by the Order for his entire life, he was still learning how cruel the galaxy could be. 

His pity turned to compassion, and he finally relented, offering Y'ael the opportunity to leave the toxic environment. He'd continue trying to make up for all his faults years later.

Coshbyss and Vok'li

The hunter was far too brash for Coshbyss' tastes. He was loud, obnoxious even, but if he could get the job done, that was enough. It was strange enough, inviting him into his small apartment, but he wasn't quite sure what else to do. If it helped the human get the job done, that was good enough for him. He did enjoy the nakkar kittens, though- they helped make the transition between living alone and having company over easier.

He still doesn't know what to think of the hunter. Then again, he didn't know what to think of most people.

A response to the letter, My dear Brumeth,

He leans back in his seat, letter in hand, exhaling softly. He hears her voice, remembers in vivid detail the all-nighters they pulled studying for their trials. There is laughter in those memories, exaggerated stories of heroic feats and made up stories about what one master tripped over the other day.

Brumeth glances back at the letter, then at the small crate that the letter came in. She was right; there wasn't much in it. Still, as he set course for Alderaan, he knew it right to present her belongings to her House. As the ship made the jump to hyperspace, the Zabrak pulled aside a set of robes from her belongings. It may not have been the most formal way to do it, but she deserved a Jedi's funeral.

"I'm sorry," he murmured as though Lisaryi could hear him, "that you had to leave us so early." He closed his eyes, tuning his ears to the hum of blue lights outside the ship, hurtling past the engines. "I pray you are at peace."
