For scanning my works, I used the channels mode in photoshop, then I select the blue channel (and the blue one only!) and drag it down to one of the icons that selects the whole layer. Then you Invert the selection and in a new layer use the paint bucket tool to color in all the lines. Deselect and paint a new layer below the previous white.
Basically, you’ve just made a transparent layer with your pencil sketches.
Below is an example of the final result (with minor touch ups) and a grey background.

Thank you for this info! (And those are lovely drawings, wow :O) I might have to try that sometime and see if I like it, if krita or affinity photo has something similar.
