hsy idk if you cover fabrics here but if youre looking for a soft fluffy And practical material, brushed cotton is the way to go! its defintely at least an 8/10 and usually always available for bedclothes and is relatively cheap ❤
Definitely!
Brushed Cotton, also known as Flannel, is super great! It varies based on quality and how often it’s been washed, but usually retains its softness fairly well. It’s also very strong and what I use to make weighted blankets.
(Note: if you’re buying the fabric from a fabric store, keep in mind that it will shrink quite a lot when washed. To avoid excess shrinking, don’t over-dry the fabric in the dryer - take it out when it’s still slightly damp and let it air dry the rest)
Flannel shirts are almost always very soft as well.

Making pyjama bottoms
This is a really simple project - really great if you’re a beginner. There’s only one pattern piece.
The only adjustment I made was:
shorten the leg length by 8 inches (This is a unisex pattern, so the length is drafted quite long.)
I used the size S but I think the XS would have been fine too. The design is very loose fitting.
There wasn’t a big selection of brushed cotton in my local fabric shop. I did consider a poplin, but I really wanted something warm for winter. So, I settled on this check pattern.
My pattern matching is not great. I wanted to match the horizontal stripes at the centre front and centre back seams, as these are the most visible. I didn’t really manage to match the vertical stripes.
I sewed a small button to the front, so I can tell the difference between front and back.
I left out the drawstring as the elastic alone works fine.
I’m pleased with these pyjama bottoms. I’ll get a lot of wear out of them.
