Let me very much recommend the French version of Rebecca das Musical currently playing in Brussels.
It is a gorgeous open-air production in a pretty park. You can hear the birds. A wasp flew freakishly close to Ich and she soldiered on like it was nothing.
Everyone is so talented!
Live orchestra.
The set is a glorious all-purpose gothic dream. Red and black, swirls, crooked doors, the torn painting, one ’indoor’ one ’outdoor’ staircase, I love it. Would not mind living there. The flowercage is superpretty too.
The costumes are a joy. So many! I had a seat in the first row and can recommend that too.
I got there and bought all the merch: a cup, a totebag and the programma.
Quick look on Insta: some printscreen pictures ^^ Time to only post Mrs Danverse since this is Tumblr and the character is a dramatic dream.
Aren’t they stunning?
The first one is also on the programme cover, ❤️ the signature was cut off on Insta but it is Gregory Navarra, the photographer’s name, there.
And here are Ich, Mrs Danvers and Bea! ^^ On the Manderlay staircase.
It's been two days and my head is still full of memories, I can't think of anything else. Unforgettable memories of watching Elisabeth das Musical in Brussels in French. Such a wonderful, amazing show! You could feel the love and passion from the productors and actors and everyone involved in this production in every detail. It was I believe the 2012 Vienna set list, which was nice to see after the slightly abridged concert version in Vienna in June (I love Ejen). Some things I will still complain about of course, nothing's perfect, but it's a gem of a show. The French translation is very good, too.
The actors... Where to begin? Elisabeth was great, from the beginning to the end. Dreamy at first, free throughout it all, proud and dignified. Her voice was very, very good.
Death. A gem. His voice is passionate at times, tender at all the right moments, and he made me melt, honestly. The Die Schatten Werden Langer/Les ombres s'allongent (act 1) was so soothing and gentle. There was the infamous but beautiful "kein kommen ohne gehen" which I love, and the staging!
There was a lovely revolving stage! No kiss at the end though... Or for Rodolphe (the only points I would complain about).
Luchini. Perfect. In a softer version, very funny, and a great accent. Loved his comedic moments.
Franz Joseph. He was so in love with his wife. His voice was tender and good, lovely acting.
Sophie. I didn't expect to love her as much as I did. Her Bellaria was amazing, I couldn't help but cry when it ended. Good comedic timing, too.
The ensemble was great, very strong.
Wenn ich tanzen will was wonderful. Der schleier fellt nearly perfect but for the missing kiss.
So many good choices in the staging, and the costumes were as good as they could be with their budget. The orchestra was good but at times it felt a little small.
When at the end of act 1 Elisabeth she appears in her beautiful costume as in the famous painting, and two parts of a frame come and meet around her, the light shining on her, I gasped. Simple idea but it was a nice, with so little set pieces.
The brochure is full of beautiful pics, and I'll try to upload those that have not yet surfaced on social media.
I could go on and on and on (I have a full page of comments, but I’ll leave it like this, if you want more details, hit me up. I’ll talk about this for months to come now.)
I'm so, so grateful I have witnessed this small piece of Elisabeth in French. (I'd go watch it again in a heartbeat if I could...)
I was going to go to the musical, have fun, go on with life but ... I am ready to go again. I have to see it again. I must find a date and way to go back.

MY FAIR LADY - Première lecture.
Le premier rendez-vous, c'est toujours un peu stressant, non? Que va-t-on penser de moi? On se prépare, mais on doute un peu... Et puis, l'autre va-t-il être au niveau de nos attentes, de nos espérances? On a tous vécu cela.
Il en est de même pour une première lecture. Sauf qu'on est cinquante. Et cette première rencontre de tous les artistes de My Fair Lady a été jubilatoire. Quelle belle équipe réunie autour de ce chef d'oeuvre.
