MerBugs - Spooky Version!

I've been rewatching some of Subjectively's older Mermay videos, and it inspired me to try and draw my mer versions of Brzzz and Beryl in a more realistic way. I really like the way that these turned out - the realism added a more spooky vibe to the designs, which I think looks really cool!

Along with drawing in a different style than I normally do, I also tried colouring these in a different way. I did the pencil work on paper, but coloured them digitally. Normally when I do this I redraw the lines and get rid of the underlying pencil drawing, but this time I kept it and used a more paint-like brush for colouring. I really like this style of colouring in my drawings since it keeps the details from the underlying pencil drawing that would otherwise be lost.

All in all, I'm really happy with these drawings, and it was perfect timing too since it's Mermay right now! Along with the coloured pictures, I also added the original pencil versions under the cut:

230 V sind gar nicht tödlich*

Sonst könnte ich nämlich diese Zeilen nicht mehr schreiben. Trotzdem kein Spaß, wenn man die falsche Sicherung rausmacht und dann an den blanken Anschlüssen in der Steckdose rumschraubt.

Kinder, ihr müsst mir versprechen IMMER noch mal mit dem Phasenprüfer zu checken, ob die Leitung eventuell doch noch unter Strom steht. Und wenn ihr unsicher seid bei dem, was ihr an den Stromleitungen macht, lasst es von einem Fachmann machen.

Ist wirklich lange her, dass ich 230 V angefasst habe. Ich denke, das war jetzt das fünfte Mal in fünfzig Jahren. Muss nicht zur Gewohnheit werden.

* Es kommt natürlich nicht auf die Spannung, sondern den Widerstand und die damit verbundene Stromstärke sowie den Verlauf des Stroms im Körper an. Ich hatte Glück! Das kann mächtig schief gehen.

Happy Pride Month!

During the month of June, I've been working on this series of lineless art using pride flags as palettes. For each flag I drew one of my Hollow Knight ocs who would identify with that flag.

This was a really fun challenge, and not only did it let me give my new drawing app a spin, being limited to only using a few colours and not using lines really made me focus more on composition for these pieces. I feel like I improves a lot with these, and I had a lot of fun while drawing them!

A bundle of Brzzz doodles.

I wanted to try some loose sketches, just to kinda mess around and have a bit of fun drawing without worrying about cleaning them up afterwards.

I think my favourite one's out of these are the one at the top center were Brzzz looks very unimpressed about something, the one to the left with them skidding down a hill, and the one at the bottom of them sitting and fiddling with their buzzsaw.

Drinks based on my Hollow Knight ocs! This was a really fun idea, and it was a nice challenge to convey my characters in the form of different beverages. I tried to both keep a similarities to their character design, with colour or with notable motifs, and at the same time make them drinks that the character that they’re based on would like! The first one is based on Beryl, and the second is based on Brzzz. Here are the ingredients for each:

Pepsis Fruit Punch

Orange Juice

Cranberry Juice

Grenadine

Soda

Vodka

Frozen Blueberries

(The vodka’s optional if you don’t want to add it)

The Buzzsaw

Dark Hot Chocolate

Mint Syrup

Lime Zest

White Chocolate Garnish

So I wanted to practice some Hollow Knight gijinka designs, specifically of my oc Brzzz: the way that I designed their hair was a bit to complicated to draw reliably, so I simplified it a bit and I’m really happy with the results.

However, my practice piece ended up a lot more angsty than I first intended.

Photo description: A pencil crayon and outlining marker drawing comprised of the gijinka designs of Brzzz (my vessel oc), the Hollow Knight, and two shades. Brzzz is in the front and center of the drawing; they are wearing a green torn cloak and are crying. Behind them is the Hollow Knight; they appear to be staring down at them and are wearing a knight helmet and armor attached to chains. One of the helmet's eye holes is full of infection orbs and has vines growing out of it and wrapping around the visor. Both their helmet and armor are showing signs of wear, and orange infection is dripping down their helmet from under their visor, along with from the crack in their helmet. One either side and slightly behind the Hollow Knight are the two shades: one with a pair of tall and curved horns, and one with two short sets of horns with the top pointing upwards and the bottom pointing downwards.

A few doodles of my gijinka designs of Brzzz! I think they have the hardest gijinka design for me to draw so far, probably because of their hair being tricky for me, which lead to me not drawing them as often. Well, this is me remedying that problem! This was a lot of fun, and I’m going to try drawing my characters more often once I finish the fic I’m working on. Also, image description in the caption! I finally figured out how to do those!
