Now that school’s done, I can finally start working on Glass Half-Full again!
So here’s a little WIP Wednesday!
Suddenly, a burst of noise erupted from a table behind him. Beryl turned around to see a beetle slam down their empty cup, the small group surrounding them offering up cheers and smiling gestures. It looks like he and his friends weren’t the only ones having a good time tonight.
“Pfff, they think that’s impressive,” Maroge said, also glancing at the noisy table. “Took’em the better half a minute to get that down.”
“I wasn’t reeally paying attention… but they look like they’re having fun!”
“Guess so,” the centipede replied, looking over the new round of drinks on the table. “But I think we could do a bit better, eh?” Flashing each other a knowing grin, both of them grabbed a bottle of cider and pulled off the corks.
“Anyone else wanta join in?” Beryl asked.
“Nah, not mucha fan of sweeter stuff,” Jichin said, jestering to his glass. “But I’ll watch an’ see who's done first.”
“How about you, Levioty? Sprig?”
“Sorry, but I believe the two of us should… should be making our leave soon. I think Sprig may be already asleep.”
“Not asleep, not yet,” the beetle mumbled, lifting her head from the butterfly’s chest. “I can stay upa bit longer. Let’stay for one more round.”
“Alright, dear, but you are getting tired.”
“‘M not tired,” she said with a huff, but she still leaned back into Levioty, eyes half closed.
“Well, looks like it’s jus’ you and me, Beryl.” The centipede turned to look at him, raising her bottle in anticipation.
“Okay! Ready! Could you counted us down, Jichin?”
“Sure. Three… two… one… an’ go!”
