new years — the bathroom stalls ! ( closed for — @lucindajohnson )
dragging herself out that night wasn’t easy , and yet there she was in the one place she didn’t want to be more than anywhere — the bathrooms . it had been the easiest avenue for escape ; nobody would question if she darted towards the toilet stalls , assuming she’d either had a little too much to drink or had a cute little somebody waiting for her behind the graffiti’d door . instead , she was mopping at the bleeding mascara trailing black tracks down her cheeks in an attempt to mask the fact that , for the last ten minutes , she had been hyperventilating to her own reflection . hearing the main door click open , evanie scrambled with the wads of stained tissue and turned to gaze into the plughole , sniffing ; “ sorry . i’ll be right out . i just ... “ was it easier to lie , to cover up her turmoil to save face ?? “ ... i just feel so gross out there tonight . even worse now i cried all my darn makeup off . “

They were sadly not much of a drummer but that never stopped them from trying and this had added fun with the paint. All the colors made River smile and laugh. When the other woman came up they immediately offered her one of the drum sticks. “I’m not very good.” They spoke up over the music with a bright smile. “At the drums I mean. Maybe it’s because I’m spoiled and Moth, the drummer of my band and one of my best friends, they are amazing and always takes care of that part for me.” Their head shook, loose curls shifting as they did. It was then that they realized they were rambling and she probably didn’t care. Sometimes it just all fell out. “What kind of music do you like? Are you having fun?” They hit the drum a few more times, slightly off beat to trap sounds the DJ was scratching.
