Two butches brainstorming how to impress a girl
fitzgerald probably carved his and zelda's initials into a tree with a heart around it when they were younger
Zelda Fitzgerald, Louisa May Alcott, & Ruthie Steinbeck
I’ve noticed that people have pointed out how similar Zelda and Alcott look before, which they do:
But I don’t think anyone has pointed out how closely Ruthie (Steinbeck’s sister) resembles them either:
It’s funny to me how three women with varying levels of connection to The Guild could resemble each other so closely. As I’ve already explained in more detail here, Fitzgerald and Steinbeck are surprisingly similar, so it’s even more shocking to me that Fitzgerald’s right-hand-woman and his wife look so much like Ruthie. I feel like this was probably intentional, maybe to draw some sort of parallel between the two? Both Steinbeck and Fitzgerald are doing this for their family members, so it would almost look like they’re fighting for the safety of the exact same people…
Also, Ruthie and Alcott being similar in design might allude to the fact that, technically speaking, they both encourage Steinbeck to hurt people. (Yes, in Ruthie’s case it’s more inadvertent because while she’s not willfully influencing his actions, but he is doing what he does for her benefit.) Meanwhile Alcott is quite literally behind all of the schemes that Steinbeck was involved in. He even mentions her twice.
(And don’t even get me started on Steinbeck shifting the blame to Alcott during the whole Q fiasco. You can’t trick me Mr. “Timshel: Thou Mayest” Man. I know you have free will 🫵)
Anyways, I am once again losing my mind over John Steinbeck. Please enjoy my mad ramblings.
My primal instincts are telling me that i must do justice to one of bsd's most obscure characters or i will implode
So here are some Zelda headcanons (heavily inspired by irl zelda, of course)
-------------------------------------------------------
Comes from a wealthy southern family who spoiled her rotten *cough cough* Montgomery, Alabama
Has been involved with the arts from a very young age. Her parents probably enrolled her in ballet lessons the moment she learnt basic motor skills
Also knows how to sing, paint and play the piano
Met Fitzgerald at a sparkling speakeasy in her hometown. He was staying in Alabama for a job or something and just so happened to catch sight of Zelda singing on stage. He did that cartoony wide-eyed boioioioing expression
Didn't initially think that she and fitzgerald would become anything serious. Mainly because her family disapproved of francis' humble background
Was planning to send francis a break-up letter (under pressure from her parents) when he suddenly pulled up to her house in a fancy suit and a rolls-royce
Speaking of which, she is blissfully unaware of the shit her hubby did to get to where he is today
Gets drunk quite easily
Her favourite drinks are cocktails, champagne and red wine
Is a sucker for ice cream and pudding. So much so that her dearest husband bought her favourite dessert shop, just for her ^^
Likes experimenting with her hair. Has changed hairstyles more times than anyone cares to count
Has a collection of napkins, theater tickets and postcards
Also collects flowers and has filled dozens of albums
Keeps all of the letters francis has written her in a bundle under her pillow
Gets homesick quite often
Still wears the cocktail dresses she used to party with during her prime
Wants to go live in france or italy at some point
Her favourite flowers are lillies, angel's trumpets and dahlias
Managed to transmit her passion for ballet to her daughter
Kept her daughter's first pair of shoes, pacifier and milk bottle
I wont try to diagnose her but its clear the death of her and francis' daughter caused her to spiral. She erased the memory and was somehow deluded into thinking that her daughter was sent overseas instead
Allow me to go on a tangent here. In my delusion-infested head, francis and zelda's daughter was somewhere between 6-12 when she passed away (making her any older doesnt check out with francis' age; that being 32 y/os). So in this version, zelda is under the impression that their daughter is attending a ballet school somewhere in europe. So, she's not "studying" abroad per se
Pays the guild a visit every now and then. Shes on good terms with most of its members
Is besties with Margaret, try to convince me otherwise
Calls Louisa "sugar" and lectures fitzgerald on looking after her properly
Says that Lucy reminds her of her younger self
Fitzgerald deliberately keeps her away from Lovecraft
Wants nothing to do with Edgar because the mere presence of Karl freaks her out
Used to be the IT girl of her era
Got down to some crazy stuff with fitzgerald in their younger years. We're talking drunken make-out sessions, spinning around revolving doors, sliding down the handrails of staircases, getting evicted from hotels because the managers got sick of their shit etc etc
Wears all kind of jewelery. Necklaces, rings, earrings... you name it, she has it.
Loves going on theater and casino dates
Once got mad at francis and taped a "Kick Me!" sign on the back of his coat. Poor guy came home with the imprints of like five different shoes all over his back. They made up and made out pretty quick
Alongside cream cheese, she also hates mayonnaise and mustard with a burning passion
Once woke up in the middle of the night to francis crying and asking her if she would love him if he was a worm
Still uses her maiden name (it's Sayre btw)
Has bird feeders on every balcony of her house
Unaware that her husband almost burnt an entire city down to a crisp for her

@winter1234lo @thegreatf1tzgerald @save-me-the-waltz @emomarktwain this one's for you guys *salutes*
This post is a complete uno reverse of irl scott and zelda's marriage lmfaooo but i couldnt bear to replicate that shipwreck of a relationship. I will avenge you, miss zelda ✊️
One of my biggest unlikely hopes for Part 2 is that Zelda will be revealed as a skill user and Save Me the Waltz can do something very specific and potentially game changing. Not in a combat goddess way—that wouldn’t really fit the themes of IRL Zelda Fitzgerald's writing or the shape of her legacy—but in a way which can make or break Francis, a bit like how IRL F. Scott Fitzgerald used IRL Zelda as an inspiration but worried her writing would destroy his reputation...
...and either Zelda uses her Ability against Francis after finding out what he is/has been up to, she won’t use it for him because he hasn’t been honest enough to let her know why there’s a need so she doesn't see the point, or he won’t ask her to use it even though he desperately could use her help and may fail without it because that doesn't fit into his idea of how he can/should treat her or because he can't bring himself to tell her the truth
au rant yaya
soooo hi im the ceo of mushigerald/americanpsycho/👻🇺🇸…. Its my rarepair that basically only i ship
i have an au where it’s basically corpse bride
so francis and zelda are happy and planning their marriage with mushi as the bestman for francis. Its the wedding reception and right as mushi was about to confess a secret to francis, he gets KILLED!!!! by heh a chandelier (phantom of the opera ref!) . after literally watching his best friend die francis decides to postpone the wedding. Zelda understands and gives him some time alone.
one night as francis sits alone in his office he opens his weary eyes to see mushi in front of him. bloody and in a wedding dress yet still somehow there. Francis rightfully freaks out and assumes hes hallucinating but mushi assures him he isnt. mushi explains that he has unfinished business involving the secret he never got to tell francis that night and the only way for him to rest peacefully is if he either gets his final wish, or if he faces possible rejection.
uhmm yah sorry im a nerrrrddddd
day 4 + 5 for @bsdladiesweek !
