writing a little gift fic to myself…
It’s Yer’s birthday and the Guild is having trouble figuring out what to get her since she doesn’t really care for expensive gifts
the only people who have an idea of what to do for the party and her gift are Lucy and Steinbeck (and probably others who don’t come from a wealthy background, i have to look more into it)
They eventually find out through Hawthorne’s cultural exchanges with Yer that her family used to gift her jewelry for her birthday. Not just any jewelry, but silver Hmong jewelry.
Finding out that modern pieces aren’t made with solid silver as they used to back then, Fitzgerald decides to commission a xuav for her in solid silver.
It’s heavy when she wears it, but knowing the trouble they all went through to find and make it for her, she wears it without any problems.
BONUS: Poe writes a bedtime story for Yer, where she’s taken into a soft memory. She’s celebrating her birthday with her family and her father gifts his little girl a necklace that’s way too big to fit around her neck properly.
