Why, YES I’ll write about battlestar galactica forever, and YES I’ll beat this drum that Esmail maybe doesn’t know what he’s doing with the property. Also, you can now read my bylines are Nerdbot where I am the News Editor.
We have some concerns about Sam Esmail rebooting something like "Battlestar Galactica," which he says he's a huge fan of.
In his first few episodes, I think we can pretty much agree that Sam Anders is a sexy lamp, if sexy lamps could shoot Cylons.
Bonus: the note on the sexy lamp

iconic adama speeches:
we never asked the question, WHY? / you cannot play god then wash your hands of the things that you've created. sooner or later, the day comes when you can't hide, from the things that you've done, anymore.
SO SAY WE ALL / I KNOW WHERE IT IS. EARTH... the most guarded secret we have. a refuge the cylons know nothing about!
(link to full transcript of both speeches)
jesus the scene where theyre back on the galactica after the occupation and the cheering crowd is hoisting adama onto their shoulders and by all accounts this should be a moment of narrative triumph on par with apollo taking down the cylon mining operation in season one, all swelling music and teary eyes
but instead we focus on tigh. we focus on kara. whose worlds have been ripped away from them by the horrors of the occupation. kara, manipulated into caring for a child as her own, having that child whisked away by her mother. tigh, who was forced to kill his own wife for betraying the resistance. these two stand apart, face away from the revelry, lost in the depths of their pain
its hard to feel triumphant when there are such lasting wounds, and the narrative here chooses to focus on the horrors of war
seriously theres something so perfect about the structure of season two, the way kobol is wrapped up and is essentially framed as the reunion of their family and of the fleet, healing the rift between adama and roslin (as well as adama physically recovering from being shot), and starbuck returning triumphant from caprica with helo and athena
so you have the threads of adama and roslin finally solidifying the partnership between them, you have the kiss between starbuck and apollo, you have chief tyrols grief and confusion over boomer, and you have the tiny beginnings of trust between athena and adama building when she surrenders the gun to him
and after ALL THAT, almost immediately we are plunged into the pegasus arc. immediately testing all the resolve and unity created. into the forge, as it were. adama places trust in athena by letting her plug into the computers and heal the ship from the latent virus (seriously JUST pre-pegasus), we see starbuck and apollo watching each others backs while reassigned to pegasus, chief tyrol uniting with helo to try and protect athena, and of course roslin and adama uniting against admiral cain. seriously so so so well written
season one created a dizzying array of threads, spun them wonderfully into the resolution on kobol, and then immediately capitalizes on all of that bedrock over the pegasus arc to really drive home every character beat they set up prior.
