Ali posted this ask. I think it's finally sinking in for some.
Q. At this point if it wasn't true they would have to say it's not true and not happening because we're well out of it just being fandom speculation this point. It's no longer even just the journalists who cover the show teasing it and believing it's happening. We're talking about entities like USA Today and the Today show. Those are massive mainstream companies. For something untrue to break containment like that and continue to grow and spread that far they would have to refute it if it was false. The fallout would be cataclysmic at this point. Congratulations you all got your way. Whatever.
A. I agree that I think they have officially passed the point of no return. I do think encouraging the likes of USA Today, the Today Show and Jeopardy to further spread the belief would lead to a seismic backlash if it isn't going to happen. No, it is still not proof. Because they could genuinely be that gross, I don't think they are, but they could be. Oliver's answer about fandom was the most interesting part. If it's going to happen then Oliver and Ryan drawing a line with regards to interaction with people in the fandom makes perfect sense. They would need to establish clear boundaries, because plenty of people have proven themselves to be scarily inappropriate when it comes to interacting with them. They also don't need to subject themselves to anything from the other fandom. So making that line clear prior to going canon makes sense. This new interview basically added to the growing suspicion and I do agree that at this point if it wasn't happening they would need to start saying that to some degree out loud.
Thank you Nonny! Much appreciated!
Now see... I don't get this 'You all got your way' attitude.
This was ALWAYS the way it would go. It was clear for everyone with eyes to see and who had been following the story from day 1. As soon as Eddie was ALL over the bi Buck and T storyline, it was already over for BT.
We didn't GET our way. This was the way it was always going to go and we interpreted the text and subtext correctly. That's all there is to it.
And yeah, there is no way for them to try to get out of this to be honest. It would look so bad on the show and ABC at this point. 🤷♀️
Heads up! For anyone who is giving me the shifty eyes for reposting Ali's updates instead of reblogging. Read this.
Remember, no hate in comments, reblogs or inboxes. Let's keep it civil and respectful. Thank you.

I’m curious to see the response Ryan gives for his personal thoughts on what’s going on between Buck and Eddie.
But at the same time I’m not excited for the melt down it’ll probably cause since he still can’t give anything away so people are gonna end up dooming 💀😂
Listen, at this point I've given up on asking people to use their common sense. We've been saying this over and over again, but for some reason there are always people that will see the worst in these interviews and who spiral and doompost afterwards.
What do they possibly expect Ryan to say? He can't just come out and say:
"Hey everyone! Guess what?! Eddie is gay!!! And he desperately wants to bone Buck!!!! WHAT ABOUT THAT BUCK AND EDDIE THING HUH?!!!! YOLO!!! LOL!!!"
So yes, he'll skirt around the topic and he'll say some deep and meaningful things about the Buddie friendship and how important it is for Eddie. I expect him to tease a little and give some vague answers, but that's really the only thing he can say. 🤷♀️
And like clockwork, people over on Twitter will start yelling that he is baiting them. Pffff, seriously-- if it wasn't for some good sources, I would have deleted Twitter ages ago.
The influx of some newer fans (both BT and Buddie) when Buck came out as bi has made the 911 fandom a worse place to be in my opinion. Some of these people are ruthless. The way they talk to professional journalists is appalling and downright rude. I always have so much second-hand embarrassment when I read some of their comments.
((I'd like to make a note here that I'm not talking about ALL new people in fandom, just some of them and most are over on Twitter. I've met a lot of lovely new people here on Tumblr who know how to behave normally and who are genuinly excited to join this fandom. Welcome to all of you!!! Seriously!!! It's nice to have some new voices and fresh input.))
As the second anon said, some of them were almost threatening Jeff Conway, telling him that the fandom would be upset with him if the interview didn't give them what they wanted. I mean... WTF?! This guy interviewed an actor of a TV-show. He is only going to write about what Ryan said. This isn't life and death here! It's just a silly little TV-show interview!
This isn't even about fandom etiquette anymore. It goes beyond that! This is about human decency. Just because you are online and anonymous, doesn't mean that you get to act like a total *sshole towards an entertainment journalist or towards actors and other fans for that matter. I have seen some vile Ryan hatred on Buddie-Twitter. Safe to say I blocked all of them.
I truly don't get it. How were these people raised? Didn't their parents or guardians ever talk to them about kindness and decency? Did some of them grow up with social media without any kind of supervision and somehow it desensitized them to normal human behaviour and social cues? What went wrong?!
I don't know you guys. Maybe I sound old to some of you.🤷♀️ But I've been in fandom spaces for a very long time now, so I know what I'm talking about.
Whenever I speak up about something like this, I get messages in my inbox calling me a 'boomer'. I didn't know that asking for simple human decency and politeness made someone a 'boomer', but if that is the case, I'll gladly take that title. Because some of these fans' behaviour on Twitter is seriously getting out of hand.
So really, the message here is: Stay away from stan-Twitter if you can, but if you like it there (no judgement 😋 You do you!) do make sure to block wisely, even within the Buddie fandom if necessary. Don't share, reply or make screenshots, because none of us should condone or share these people's shitty behaviour.
I’m honestly really worried right now with how nasty this has all gotten so fast.
I feel so bad for Oliver. His entire storyline he’s waited years to tell has now completely been hijacked from start to finish thanks to Lou and his cult.
The disgusting things being said about Oliver. About Ryan. The show itself. All with Lou liking and engaging with them playing up the poor me card with them.
Like they are literally demanding Oliver be written off the show as punishment and any future Buck scenes they already filmed scrubbed out. I saw a few say deport Ryan back to Mexico and then write Eddie off by sending him to Texas permanently and send Buck with him. Some saying Lou should have been kept on and Oliver let go.
Like it’s all insane. And none of them deserve it because they didn’t do anything wrong. No one misled or promised or lied. They have been open and transparent about BT from the start. Tim literally said at the very beginning this was an entry level relationship. No wedding bells.
I’m also getting worried the network is going to pull the plug on buddie because even if it’s not us doing it, they might not wanna deal with the insane blowback these people are causing and will cause when buddie happens.
Don't worry Nonny. Like I said before, Oliver will be fine. Ryan will be fine.
Oliver has disabled comments on his post on Instagram because he knew exactly what was coming. They are both probably avoiding social media right now, but I'm also certain they'll be back as soon as the worst is over.
The show never made any promises about BT. On the contrary, they made it very clear, since day one, that Tommy was there to be a plot device. Eddie was all over the BT narrative in both seasons. In season 8 BT were still in the same place they ended in season 7. There was no growth whatsoever. Also, there was no buildup at all for them. Tommy just existed next to Buck in episode 5, but there wasn't one single sign of physical affection. Even in episode 6 there was only a cheek kiss. It reminded me of Eddie kissing Ana when he returned home after the shooting. A single cheek kiss. We all know how that relationship ended.
I wouldn't worry too much about the network. It seems bad right now, because they are all being loud and obnoxious, but the BT fandom is actually quite small compared to the Buddie fandom and the general 911 fandom. Their voices will be drowned out by all the positivity in the end. These BT stans will stop watching the show, but it won't even make a dent in the ratings. There's only a few hundred of them.
I checked Instagram and I've already seen so many positive comments, saying it was one of the best episodes of season 8, praising all the actors and crew for their hard work.
So don't worry. ABC knows exactly what Buddie could mean for the show. It would most definitely increase the popularity. Bi Buck already brought in a lot of people (some of them who have already left us again since Thursday evening), but a lot of them are here for the bi representation and they are here to stay.
So imagine how crazy things would get if Eddie would turn out to be not so straight after all and very much in love with his best friend? And Buck finally figuring out who he really wants?
The episodes leading up to them finally getting together would draw in so many new people who heard that those two 'gay firefighters from 911' are finally getting together after 7 loooong seasons.
ABC doesn't care about a few hundred people throwing a tantrum under a social media post. They do care for ratings and making a profit. That's it.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Tell you one thing though: After what he has done? Lou will never ever work on anything for ABC again, which means that we won't ever see him back on 911 and that's a beautiful thing. 😏😆
If you have a minute...
... please go to the official 911abc instagram account to leave some loving supportive comments about the latest episode and tag Oliver to show him most fans are totally supporting him.
Also make sure to like as many positive comments as you can.
These crazy BT stans are writing entire books in the comments of their latest Chad Lowe post, filled with terrible accusations towards Oliver. They accuse him and the show of biphobia.
They then praise Lou as some kind of great kind-hearted soul who didn't deserve to be treated so terribly by the fandom, Oliver and the show.
Paragraphs on how they got queerbaited by 911 because BT was such a great couple with depth and so much build-up. 🤦♀️
The worst thing is that they are all still worshipping at Lou's racist feet on Twitter, while the man keeps feeding them lies and actually instigates them hating on Oliver. The man is deranged.
I said in an earlier post that the show's current strategy is to ignore all of these terrible comments for now. But it seems to be getting worse and more vile and if this doesn't change, the show will have no other choice than to speak out in defence of Oliver.
Hey I was just wondering if you could as Alli some questions like will the 911 social media team will be addressing the harrasment towards Oliver since 8x6 happened because I just read a BT post saying they will not let this go and will continue harassing Oliver. Lou has been encouraging this behavior too, shouldn't the social media say something to protect Oliver?
They all seem to be clamming up right now, ignoring all the negativity. They're probably hoping it'll die down in a couple of days.
If it doesn't? I think Tim might make a short statement about it. Because the way these people are harassing Oliver, telling him he's biphobic. It's gross. And the blatant racism towards Ryan? Just as gross! And Lou? That man is deranged. He's egging these people on by feeding them lies.
So yeah, Tim might call them (and Lou) out again by making a short statement. He called them out once before, calling them toxic in an interview. I don't think he'll hesitate to say something if this keeps up.
As for Oliver and Ryan? They are full-grown adults in the entertainment industry. I'm sure they'll be fine. It isn't their first rodeo and won't be their last. They'll keep quiet for a while and then they'll be back as if nothing happened.
I did briefly discuss this with Ali on Friday and if I recall it correctly, she seemed to also think Tim or ABC might come out with a statement if it would get too bad. But for now their strategy is 'ignore, ignore, ignore'.

No because this has me side eyeing them so much
When Reddit did a poll a month or so back of least favorite character and Tommy was voted out very early. Like even before Taylor Kelly, the BT fans went on a war path because they couldn’t understand that he’s really just not that liked?
And then they went on to try and shame everyone and preach how Reddit polls don’t matter at all because it’s filled with nobody’s and since it’s not the Ga it doesn’t matter.
But now suddenly they do? Now they matter! And now it’s horrible toxic buddie fans because yet again Tommy isn’t liked 💀💀
I get it. I do, but logic doesn't work here Nonny. There is no rhyme or reason to be found when it comes to these stans.
I simply don't care anymore at this point. They can say what they want, it won't change the fact that Tommy isn't sticking around in season 8.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Having snooped around BT spaces, it's so...weird, to see them act like Buddies are the only toxic people in the space. And act like two Reddit posts, one about liking Tommy and the other about not liking him, getting opposite levels of traction means that Buddie stans have 'overrun' the main subreddit.
Because...maybe people just don't like Tommy that much? It feels like the BT community has deluded themselves into believing that Tommy is this beloved character by most of the audience and only the Buddies hate him, but for the most part it seems like people just...don't care about him. As well they shouldn't, he really isn't that big a deal in the grand scheme of things.
So...maybe people are just tired of hearing about Tommy when there's a lot more to talk about with basically every other aspect of the show. 🧐
It is bizarre how some of the more radical BT stans see themselves as victims of the terrible Buddie-fans. While most of us are just chilling, hoping for Buddie to happen in season 8.
They seem to take any Buddie-positive news as a personal insult, which is strange. Buddie-fans have not overrun anything. There is just more of us, because most of us have been here for 6 seasons now, shipping Buddie. The fandom has had time to grow in that time.
I'm not saying there aren't any radical Buddie fans, because there are. But not to the level of craziness that I've seen in the BT-fandom.
It's like you say: There is this idea that everyone loves Tommy, especially the general audience. In reality the general audience doesn't even remember Tommy, because he was hardly there in season 7b.
Anyway, have a good one Nonny!
