Fic Rundown for me! [aka IDontGoHereEither on ao3]
Hello! Thought it would be a good idea to make a main post with all of the links for my OneChicago crossover fic series, A Herrmann/Halstead Production. (ao3 series link here.)

What's the series? It's an AU where Christopher Herrmann's mom had an affair with Pat Halstead resulting in a baby. The series follows this original character (Rebecca "Bex" Herrmann) as she grows up and gets to know her brothers and the various Chicago teams.
It is very much an AU, just to underscore that. It doesn't follow the same timeline and characters will follow different paths. I pull some plot lines from the three shows to weave into the big picture storyline, but there will be a fair amount of differences. Hopefully you still check it out!

Apparently some people still need to hear this so: using an 'ai checker' is still using ai. If you are feeding someone's fic to one of these checkers, you will still not be sure their fic is ai because they are not 100% accurate, but you can be 100% sure that you are using ai. For fic. Furthermore you are doing the work of an ai scraper for them. You are, personally, feeding the machine. There is no actual excuse for using an ai checker on fanfic as a hobby. YOU are the problem.
If you think a fic is ai, mute it and move on. That's it. That's all you do.
There is so much smoke in the air, it looks like fog. I can't even turn on the air conditioner right now. This is just from the smoke travelling down from the actual fires - the people in those areas are struggling through evacuation and many have lost their homes.
To see our governments - both federal and provincial - talk about investing in fossil fuels and AI data centers in the face of all of this feels so desolate and disheartening.
What about investing in a future where people can actually breathe?
you know those studies showing that cursing helps with pain tolerance or whatever. that’s how i feel about making my weird little noises to get through my basic daily activities. sometimes you just have to go hggblaaaah for a minute so you can find the strength within yourself to get up or wash the dishes or send an email. mmmnneh. urgh. the torments are unending but you can always make some little sounds about it.
I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-

Book you've reread the most times?
I love rereading books so there are quite a few contenders for this one. I'll say one of the top ones is definitely A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L'Engle.
Top 5 books of all time?
THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ANSWER! 😂 I'm going to pick five books that shaped me as a reader and a writer in the most impactful ways:
Jonathan Cleaned Up - Then He Heard a Sound by Robert Munsch (Pretty much any classic Munsch, but this is one of my very favourites)
Son of Interflux by Gordon Korman (one of the most reread contenders)
A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L'Engle (this book has stayed with me from the moment I read it.)
Faking It by Jennifer Crusie (I love so many of her books - she is the writer I learned about writing dialogue from.)
One for the Money by Janet Evanovich (the early Stephanie Plum books still make me laugh out loud and helped measure the bar I set for myself as a writer.)

This bit of very oblivious Shane makes me giggle:
Maybe he was being careful because he didn’t want Shane to think he was interested him? Obviously, Shane would never assume that about anyone, especially not from Rozanov. A bit of innuendo from him was basically small talk. This was the guy who usually told Shane his room number in lieu of saying hello every time Boston played in Montreal. He was just like that.
Also, Ilya so determined to make his play for Shane the best that it can be that he turns to Svetlana for help:
“Teach me how to make a spreadsheet.”
how close is your project to the end?
So, two out of three chapters are done, but I'm pretty sure that Chapter Three is going to be a long one (possibly broken into two chapters depending on how it goes?) I'm going to say it's about 60% done so far. But who knows what will happen because I'm clearly not driving this bus. 😂

Saw the news on Instagram about the St Louis Blues signing DD and one of the comments (re: DD and CH) was something along the lines of "It's not like these guys are generational talents so why are they going through the hassle of signing them?"
And I thought, wow - you don't even realize you are part of this whole problem, do you?
Who fucking cares if they WERE "generational talents"?
Skills are not worth more than a person.

I was going to say that these guys should suffer in obscurity forever more, but that's not right. People should know their names and dog their every move forever more and they should never be allowed on the ice ever again.
I hope no one involved in this shit show ever knows peace.
This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.
OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.
And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.
