Behind The Chapter
The Brothers Kim, Chapter 3- That’s My Name?
Please read chapter 3 of ‘The Brothers Kim’ before reading this post. You can do so on Wattpad, Asianfanfics, Inkitt, Archive of Our Own (AO3), Quotev, Sweek, Tapas, Webnovel and RoyalRoad.
Potential spoilers will be omitted from this post.
Following Subin’s close encounter with the ruddy-faced men, Subin continues her exploration of the town, still unsure of how she’ll be able to get home.
From her encounter with the ruddy-faced men, Subin’s suspicions of being dead were confirmed- she wasn’t dead- but she still couldn’t understand how and why she time-slipped to wherever she was.
As she continues to explore town, she manages to catch sight of something shady happening in an alleyway. Drawing closer, she realises it was the cheeky brat from before.
At first, Subin was going to leave him behind to receive his punishment for stealing- just like what he did to her- until he heard his cries for help which she couldn’t ignore. She ends up saving him, even when he was ungrateful for her interference.
Just when things were about to get ugly for Subin and the boy, they were rescued just in time by the Jade Lotus.
Subin soon discovers that the boy’s name was Taehyung and that the man who had rescued both of them was his handsome cousin, Namjoon. But what surprised her the most was that they were both from the House of Kim and that she, through an unexpected turn of events, was now known as Gyuri.
EXTRA:
Time-slips: In some transmigration stories, the main character often transmigrates to a time and place that is both related to their culture. In this case, Subin, having grown up in the UK, couldn’t understand why she had time-slipped to a place in Asia. After all, wasn’t she just in the UK? Weren’t there rules to time-slips? These are one of the few mysteries to time-slips.
There are a lot of references to contemporary anime like ‘Naruto’. I used to watch this when I was a teen, haha.
Like most time-travelling movies and dramas, there is always the fear of affecting the future with something called, ‘the butterfly effect’ (great movie, by the way) which is why Subin was hesitant to reveal her real name. (I had also been watching the ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy which guided me when writing this chapter).

So much to do, so little time...
Really? Is there? So much that just has to be done? In such a limited timeframe?
More and more I appear to be finding myself at the mercy of those for whom inflexibility and rigid adherence to plans seems to be a mantra.
I mean,is it just me or did I read Building the Curriculum 3 wrongly?
The framework provides flexibility to organise, schedule and deliver theexperiences and outcomes in ways that meet the needs of all learners, but also provides reassurance about consistency where necessary.
I appreciate that planning for progression (and just to be organised!) in teaching in essential but I'm also well aware that without context, learning can often be - or certainly appear to the pupils - meaningless.
Last week, for example, it was the Hindu Festival of Diwali. Had one's planning for RME and/or PSD not taken account of this and one was, for example, studying aspects of Christianity instead it would seem to me to be only sensible to "ditch" the plan for the week/day/lesson and do something - anything - on Diwali instead; from a look at the beautiful Rangoli patterns seen widely in Hindi households at this time of year to a session with the excellent Rama and Sita story from the BBC.
What one certainly wouldn't do would be to say "we're not doing Other World Religions until after Christmas." I wouldn't at any rate. I'd also not be using phrases like "we're running out of time this term now and that's still not done yet so I don't think we should be spending time on stuff that's not in the plan."
Just saying.
