Hey! Question. When it comes to BTZ would you consider making Emilia the heroine she was in Arc I? What I mean is from Subaru's perspective Emilia is still that flawless fantasy hero who never makes any mistakes and from his view the only reason Emilia was killed by Elsa at all was because he delayed her in getting to the loot house sooner?

That’s kind of what’s happening from Subaru’s perspective — helped along greatly by how exactly Elsa first shows up in BTZ. (It involves her threatening Subaru’s life, at which point Emilia nearly freezes the entire Capital as she slams onto the battlefield in a frenzied rage — ready to defend Subaru with all the magical power available to her late-story self — and nearly makes everyone there shit themselves.)

From Subaru’s perspective, Emilia is strong and capable and decisive and doing just fine without him. From everyone else’s perspective, Emilia is probably the one closest to a psychotic episode, because she cannot look at Subaru’s face without seeing his dead body staring back at her asking why she didn’t do anything to stop him.

In the cases of both Dogshow or BTZ, are there any characters either cast would be Absolutely hunting on sight? Might there be others than the Cult or Whale?

Elsa is one of them, except then Meili starts begging Emilia to let her keep her big sister and so now Elsa is Emilia’s personal knight, which nobody is happy about.

Olbart is another. Except he shows up when Yorna and Tanza are out as Schwartz’s Totally Normal Gal Pals and then Subaru ends up jumping in to defend him while scolding the two of them for nearly getting violent with a Helpless Old Man, which Olbart is more than happy to play into.

That’s pretty much how all of this ends up going yeah

I think your main selling point for BTZ should be elsa and regulus shenanigans at this point (it is high praise)

Imma be honest those types of shenanigans are basically the entire tone of BTZ II. Like those two are obvious but there’s also:

Otto, currently convinced that he and Patrasche are the only ones who went back in time and acting as the Worst Spy Ever while everyone else places bets on when he’ll finally figure it out

Reinhard and Wilhelm, newly reconciled and genuinely attempting to act like emotionally functional adults, which appears to be an exercise in futility

Julius, who is currently getting bullied by Wilhelm at every opportunity and (related) has been forced into the role Subaru’s unofficial personal guard dog

Emilia, flying by the seat of her pants as she attempts to do everything at once while looking like the most pathetic wet cat in existence. The Bowel Hunter is her new knight somehow

Garfiel, who has decided that he IS, in fact, an adult now due to having technically lived for 17 years, and has thus decided that Subaru will now be HIS little brother figure

Mimi, who — much like Garfiel — is going to get Subaru to start calling her “Onee-chan” if it kills her

Vincent, who is openly sulking at Subaru behaving himself around him instead of picking fights

Aldebaran, who is now the world’s angriest ten year old

Cecilus, who has decided that he, too, wants a new little brother (poor Aldebaran)

Ricardo, who is waging a one-man war against Subaru’s increasingly convoluted attempts to sneak into the Iron Fang so that he can “prove himself” on the battlefield and losing his mind a little in the process

Regulus might be having a funnier time than Elsa actually

You know I love that Elsa’s the one who’s arguably doing the best in BTZ. She’s abruptly removed from her post as an assassin, gets a new job as a knight where killing people is actually legal, becomes a hero (probably gets a moniker similar to Reinhard’s “monster who fights monsters” or something), Meili gets a good school and enough food, the guy she almost killed makes Meili dolls and stuff.

She has no clue what’s going on but her life has abruptly become better and she’s just rolling with it.

Elsa has no fucking clue what’s happening. She doesn’t know how she got here. She’s constantly got a giant question mark floating above her head. Lady Emilia is cheering her on from the stands and she doesn’t know how to feel about it. Subaru is the only person she even remotely understands, because he, too, looks absolutely lost. Even her beloved sister seemed to have lost her fucking mind. But hey, she’s got food, shelter, a job, and also these lunatics somehow killed Mama for her so now she’s free??? Elsa is the definition of falling upwards in this fic lmao. Task Failed Successfully — over and over and over again.

Hey! So this may be a bit random and I'm not sure if you've already come up with a dynamic with how Subaru will interact with Elsa in BTZ. But what would you say to something to the effects of him treating her nicely because she's Emilia's knight now. He's still terrified of her sure, but he doesn't want to make Emilia upset by disrespecting her new Knight. So he behaves cordially, making her favorite dishes and crafting dolls with her and Meili.

Elsa: Doesn't know why the kid she almost gutted is cooking breakfast for her every morning.

Cast: Is freaked out and disturbingly amazed by Subaru's level of forgiveness, then again he did overlook everything Rem did to him...

ALSO and feel free to ignore this, but Beatrice and Subaru's new dynamic would be sort of interesting if Subaru began to treat her with the curtsey and respect that she initially wanted him to do in the old timeline. Probably calling her 'Beatrice-sama' and acting all respectful after finding out she's a 400 years old Spirit.

Meanwhile Beatrice is trying to get Subaru to go back to the way things used to be like calling her Beako and pulling her hair like he used too. lmao

Just some BTZ II things:

Otto fully believes that he and some of his animal friends (Patrasche, Frufoo) are the only ones who have gone back in time. Nobody is correcting him. They all want to see how far he’s gonna go before he figures it out.

There’s this stretch of time before that dance ficlet where everyone sees Julius and Emilia making eyes at one another and figures out that they’re probably gonna end up together. There’s a lot of ridiculous hijinks that happen here, because both of them are incredibly dense when it comes to romance. They’re inflicting psychic damage upon everyone in their immediate vicinity, always.

The above also leads to a very widespread running joke about how Julius is more physically affectionate with Subaru than he is with his own girlfriend.

Elsa never has any fucking clue what she’s doing or why she’s here. But Meili’s going to a proper school now, so ???

The Pleiades Battalion is stationed throughout the Capital, helping the people with daily toil as they remain on standby in case their beloved Schwartz-sama needs any extra protection. Whenever Subaru sneaks out (happens a couple times) they’re normally the ones who drag him back — which they do, but almost never before taking the opportunity to play chase with him all across the Capital. They keep getting scolded for this (“STOP ENCOURAGING HIM—!”) but it never works. They’ve caused major property damage a couple of times in their excitement.

Most people don’t really feel like there’s a sudden age difference between them and the people who didn’t go back in time. Mimi and Garfiel are the exceptions. Mimi and Garfiel now see Subaru as the unequivocal baby of the bunch. A large part of Garfiel is absolutely thrilled that he is now older than Captain.

It’s not official yet, but everyone knows that Subaru is basically Wilhelm’s new grandson. Basically everyone knows that, if you are in any way responsible for hurting Subaru, the Sword Demon is going to kill you. It’s perceived a bit like those Pixie and Brutus comics. This is also becoming a running joke: the Sword Demon and his naive, ditzy, puppyish new grandson that he seems to have pulled out of a dumpster somewhere. Sooo many questions.

Cecilus keeps trying to play with Subaru. Literally nobody else wants Cecilus to play with Subaru. Somebody help.

Through some hijinks or another (we’ll see what happens lmao), baby!Aldebaran ends up under the care of the Vollachians. The Vollachians are very keen to make up for their subjecting him to the horrors of so many near-infinite death loops. Aldebaran ends up absolutely spoiled. The members of the Pleiades Battalion are by FAR the worst offenders.

For BTZ, how open would you be to the idea of Elsa just being seen as a hero by the general public. She did some bad things in the past sure...but when she becomes Emilia's knight she's put in a position where she's fighting some of most dangerous members of the Witch Cult and is seen as a hero in the same light as Subaru when she begins killing Archbishops.

Que: Elsa wondering how she's now seen as a recognizable figure for all the RIGHT reasons.

Also que: Subaru staring in disbelief how the woman who murdered him several times is seen as celebrity and one of the greatest heroes in the history of Lugunica lol.
