The witch easily gained the upper hand . Jessie was too obvious with her moves - she was impatient . he's been watching the whole situation from afar '' you're being too overdramatic . '' the sound of his voice surprised the witch . She did not notice his presence till Jessie exposed it . Just some seconds later he was standing behind her and his hand broke though her flesh and bones behind her back . Her heart in his palm ( such a fragile little thing ) . All it took was a clench , a squeeze and SHE WAS GONE . Her lifeless body on the floor between them - his fingers on his lips so he can take a taste of her blood '' it's good . . . you should take a taste as long as it is still warm . ''

From a Meme I Can't Find Any More

The gift sits between them for a second. She might have vampiric senses, but gifts for her still take her by surprise. Finally, gentle fingers take it from Jessica; her smile matches the joy in her eyes. She has been told before that she smiles too much, but now she has an excuse to and she's not going to apologise either!

"You really didn't have to," she states, glancing up from the wrapped present to meet the other's eyes, "I don't expect these things, I just want to be able to help when I can."

That's all Esme ever wants, to help those who need it whenever she can. The memory of her parents denying her help when she needed them most, still haunts her now. If she can be that person her younger self needed, then perhaps eternity isn't as damning as people make it out to be.

 hand   wraps   around   the   banister   already   at   the   entryway.   chad   heard   the   footsteps   outside.   with   how   long   he   has   been   rooting   in   his   hell   hole,   sound   of   approaching   humans   was   one   he   learned   to   recognize   rather   quickly.   the   heightened   sense   of   precognition   however,   wasn't   all   it   was   cracked   up   to   be   unfortunately.   eyes   dart   over   to   the   intruder   as   the   door   creaks   open,   lips   are   pressed   into   a   fine   line.   ❛❛    just   because   the   door   is   open,   doesn't   mean   you   can   just   walk   in.    ❜❜    the   ghost   huffs,   crossing   his   arms.   sure   the   murder   house   wasn't   occupied   with   living   tenants   right   now,   but   that   didn't   mean   anyone   could   just   wander   in.   didn't   help   that   the   locks   changed   every   time   this   place   was   abandoned,   leaving   the   door   available   for   any   wandering   seekers.

The Five Senses

Esme's fingers curl instinctively around the edges of her blanket. She doesn't need it any more, but the feeling of the the softness against her marble-like skin is undeniably reassuring.

The fire has begun dwindling as the sun begins its gradual ascent over the horizon. It has yet to hit her skin, though with the blanket around her, it will do nothing but illuminate her face. In the twilight of early morning, Esme is relatively safe from discovery.

"Thank you." Her voice is croaky; her eyes having watched flames dance all night without the need for speaking. "... Sometimes I find the expanse of the outdoors far more comforting than the confines of walls, don't you?"
