The Baleen Cowl. I have always had a love for the ocean and all its creatures. My favorite being whales. So gigantic yet able to show such grace in every movement. It's truly enchanting. While most animals have some aspect of their life we find harsh or unappealing I never see that in whales. One of the most graceful aspects of their lives for me is how humpback whales feed. This technic called #bubblenetting is the most stunning feeding behavior I have seen documented on film. They create a spiral of bubbles around a shoal of herring that gently corals the fish. As the fish gather at the surface the whales come together from below and upward, mouths open wide, they swallow the tiny herring in one gulp. Then it's over. If only all the hard things in life could be so beautiful as this. The Baleen Cowl is my knitted representation of not just the physical beauty of how these magnificent creatures exist, but also to reflect on ourselves and find our beauty through the chaos. While im anxiously awaiting the final testing for release I will share this photo for you all to decide if you like it. #knitters #KNIT #humbleacresyarn #knittersofinstgram #knittersofravelry (at Michigan)
