mayhaps Moth Flight and her babies? I love her kittens but I've never seen art of them :c
They all grown up!!!! (I still need to read moth flight’s vision - I’m in the middle of the dawn of the clans :,,3333)
Moth Flight Solutions
Ummm... Did I skip a chapter? "Gather petals" = abandon children?
Do you ever think about how One Person had such a bad support system and therefore couldn't properly care for her kits so she decided that no medicine cat after her could handle it either? Because apparently I do.
Anyway I just remembered Micah Warrior Cats existed again recently so I wrote a little bit of poetry from his perspective and illustrated it! Idk I just think the worst parts of clan culture are interesting to explore
Bubbling Stream! Last of the Moth Flight x Micah kits, She is raised by Shadowclan, and becomes friends with Dangling leaf, Shade Pelt, and Dusk Nose. They probably aren't her foster siblings as by the time Bubble joins Shadowclan for real they would probably have been out of the nursery, and on top of that they grew up knowing Bubble's family as Moth Flight had her kits in Shadowclan for a couple moons at least. She gets the least characterization out of MothFlight's Vision of her siblings, but also appears in Shadowstar's Novella, and it is noted that she was close with Sun Shadow before he died, and spends some time helping Pebble Heart the new medicine cat while she mourns.
mothflight’s law
i don’t like how the “no mates and kids” med cat rule is set up in moth flight’s vision. i’ve talked about this before, in my post for the book, but i want to go into a little bit more detail about how i would change it. moth flight’s problem is not that she shouldn’t have had kits, it’s that she should have relied on her clan more to care for them when she had responsibilities. it’s also that she should have been able to trust her clan to care for them.
in this early stage, the clans had not really figured out community care yet, especially not windclan, who is primarily made up of former rogues or loners, not mountain cats used to living in a group. they were bad at this when moth flight was young and out in charge of kids repeatedly despite being know for being bad at taking care of kids. and when she’s older, they’re still bad at it. moth flight has it reinforced in her that she, as a mother, has to devote all of her time and energy to her kits, otherwise bad things will happen to them.
i want this to come to a head with her actually losing one of her kits when they are left in the care of another cat in the clan. she is incredibly devastated, grieving heavily, and more determined than ever to not let her kits go without a mother to look after them. this is where she decides that no medicine cat must go through this, nor should their kits. she outlaws medicine cats from having kits without giving up their post to become a queen, at least temporarily.
this, however, is not how the rule survives into the modern era. somewhere along the way, a rule mostly meant to make sure that med cats who want kits are prepared for the responsibility and have someone to care of their med cat duties while they are a queen temporarily was twisted. now, it forbids med cats from even having a mate, let alone kits, becoming a cruel enforcement of control onto med cats. it is named mothflight’s law, and now the clans tell a different story, one closer to the one in canon. also, side note, i don’t think moth flight is giving up her kits. certainly not all to different clans. there was literally no point to that, it never really comes up again.
Bubbling Stream
Bubbling Stream is a soft-furred white she-cat with yellow splotches and blue eyes.
